   The highlight of my visit to Seattle was my day trip adventure to Friday Harbor. Traveling via a Friday Harbor Seaplane was unbelievable! We booked our trip through San Juan Safaris, as the purpose of our day trip was a San Juan Safaris whale watch. Traveling on a sea plane exceeded all my expectations! This was a safe and fun way to see the stunning Pacific Northwest landscape from the air. Friday Harbor is an adorable town. The San Juan Safari whale watch was fantastic - even though we didn't see any whales during our trip. I can't wait to visit again - and take another Friday Harbor Seaplane trip! See more..

   My wife, son, and dog hiked with me here on a Sunday morning. The old monastery was still under renovation, but it looked beautiful from the outside. There was extra parking in the grass at the front of the monastery. Lots of nice trails through the forest. We took the half mile trail down to the beach, and the 1.2 mi north loop trail back up to the parking lot (steep climb).    Now that we have a dog, we go to this park every day. There is a small but good parking lot (maybe 15-20 spaces) off 73rd, and free poop bags and trash cans in two places, including at the entrance from the parking lot. There is also access off of 68th by foot, and a crosswalk with signal. It's a great mix of open fields, gravel and paved paths, woodsy trails and a creek, duck pond and waterfall, wooden bridge, park benches, and picnic area. This time of year (May) there are beautiful wildflowers and a blooming wisteria and lots of birds. There are leash laws in Kenmore, but there are some (mostly well-behaved) dogs off-leash. I don't mind, though occasionally you do see poop left behind. Most of the dog owners are very responsible. See more..

   This is a beautiful park even when flowers are not in bloom. There are large wonderful trees in a pastoral setting. The history of the park is fascinating. I remember this when it was a nursery and really impressive. See more..
