We had an unexpected stop in Havre, Montana and spent some time in this bookstore. A true gem, the likes of which are rare today. A great selection of books for all interests and ages at exceptionally low prices, the type of place that lights or sustains an interest in reading... I wish I could have brought this bookstore home with me... :) See more..
  2. 5.0 Fivehead's (2 reviews)
    - Great place for local souvenirs
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
This is the only shop in Havre where we saw a good variety of locally made crafts and other souvenirs. The wheat weavings were absolutely spectacular. Other finds were the horsehair bracelets, pottery, and cards from local artists. Very friendly staff will tell you who made what. And, yes, they have T-shirts, too. The website isn't very interesting, because it's a generic site for their online promotional products business. But it does have their email address and location map. See more..

We stopped at the buffalo jump located directly behind the mall. It seems like a very odd spot but the mall was built before the buffalo jump was discovered. There were thousands of buffalo bones dating back over 2,000 years old. We had a wonderful tour guide. This is a family-friendly stop and I would highly recommend visiting. See more..

  12. 4.5 Prairie Farms Golf Course (3 reviews)
    - Toughest 9 hole course I have ever seen
Spent More than 3 hours Golf Courses
    Prairie Farms Golf Course image
Played a lot of courses in a lot of states. I have played three courses in this area. Beaver Creek, Prairie Farms, and Signal Point. Signal Point was the driest and windiest with dry and fast greens. Signal Point and Beaver Creek are both open courses where missed shots generally don't mean lost ball. Beaver Creek uses some grass I never seen before where I come from further south. The greens are very slow as a result. Prairie Farms is nothing like the other two courses. It is the toughest 9 hole course I ever saw--every non perfect shot is likely a lost ball. Greens are very well kept and fairly fast. It has the nicest carts and clubhouse, too, and clearly is a tournament course. Beaver Creek is the best of the three for the weekend golfer. Signal Point is great course if you want to golf with very few people around. Prairie Farms is a great course, and I mean great, if you want to be a good golfer because it punishes without mercy on almost every hole a poor shot. See more..
  13. 4.5 H.E. Clack Memorial Museum (3 reviews)
    - Dinosaurs, the Army, Stampede and American Indians
Spent 1-2 hours Natural History Museums • History Museums
    H.E. Clack Memorial Museum image
My favorite was the prehistoric bones and the dinosaur trail. They had skeletons as well. This museum is especially for old bones from the past. They also had the army. The beaver, a farm, stampede and American Indians. It was free to visit. That is cool! See more..
  14. 4.5 Beaver Creek Park (2 reviews)
    - Great place to spend time outdoors!
    Parks • Hiking Trails
Beaver Creek Park is a great area to drive through, camp, fish, and hike. It includes great views and hiking trails through the Bear Paw Mountains. Mt. Otis is probably the most popular hike in the park. You can hike to the top of the mountain. There is a small dirt trail that winds up the mountain. There is a bench at the top and one or two along the way. There is a visitor's/ranger center in the middle of the park where you can stop and get a map. There is a $20 fee to access the park, but if I remember right that will get you a year pass. It may be cheaper just for the day. See more..

Havre, Montana's history is rich and diverse. You can experience that history first hand by taking one of our guided historic strolls! From ambitious entrepreneurs and trailblazing women, to hard working citizens and criminals and their dastardly deeds, these historic strolls tell the whole story. The melting pot of ethnicities such as Native American, European, African-American, Asian and Middle Eastern have all come together to create one exciting town on Montana's Hi-Line frontier! These tours have been carefully researched and creatively written to both inform and entertain by Hill County's award-winning leading historian and tour guide, Emily Mayer. A member of one of Havre's founding families, she's got the scoop on the good deeds and the scandals! Three tours of the Residential Historic District, Old Downtown and currently five at our local cemeteries take you back in time to where it happened.
