Great trip, what an adventure ! Led by an extremely skilled and knowledgeable boat team who were all really friendly and looked after us brilliantly. We were well fed and had everything we needed. We learnt so much about the history and geology of the Canyon along with loads of laughter and great fun on the water. The whole back to nature and leave only footprints experience suited us perfectly and along with the excitement of the rapids it all combined to make this a trip of a lifetime .We would definatly recommend this Company and hope to return to them for the 11 day expedition. Well done to all the team at Crate. See more..

Holiday River Expeditions - Utah Rafting Day Tours image
What an incredible, remarkable, and memorable experience!! The river and the giant canyons were wonderful all by themselves, but your team made them even better! Every one of us loved our guides! They were professional, caring, informative and excellent in so many ways. From the first song of the morning, a vocal trio invited us to start each day as they sang, “Hot Coffee” to the very end of each day, our guides made us feel special. They kept us safe over the rapids, made every meal amazing, laughed readily, and shared their knowledge of the river and its history to make the trip come alive. I’ve been all over the world on a hundred adventures, and I would rate this as one of the best trips of my life. See more..
  3. 5.0 Little Wild Horse and Bell Canyon Trail (19 reviews)
    - Highlight of our trip!
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Little Wild Horse and Bell Canyon Trail image
We hiked Little Wild Horse Canyon out and back in about 2.5 hours in late October. Sunny blue skies and cool weather made this one awesome experience. Frankly I can’t believe this place doesn’t get more press— my two teenage boys actually liked this hike better than anything we did in our tour of Utah’s mighty five national parks (including the Zion Narrows and the Queen’s Garden / Navajo Loop at Bryce Canyon!). So unique and beautiful, unlike anything else we saw on our trip. It’s just a short detour off the drive between Moab and Capitol Reef, I strongly recommend making time in your itinerary for Little Wild Horse! See more..
  4. 5.0 Crawford Draw Slot Canyon (2 reviews)
    - Off the beaten path slot canyon that doesn't require technical skills
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Canyons
    Crawford Draw Slot Canyon image
The Crawford Draw is a remote slot canyon in the San Rafael Swell off 1-70 in Utah. It's about 6 miles of dirt road off I-70 and can be done with a 2 WD SUV (needs some ground clearance). Follow the directions on The American Southwest or Tom's Utah Canyoneering websites to find the trailhead. Once there you'll need to walk about 50 yards to find the start of the canyon. The canyon starts to narrow right away and there is water within the first 1/4 mile. We were there in early April 2017 and the pools were cold and got deeper as we we went. You can follow this canyon for about 6 miles where it intersects the red draw. Be sure to take lots of water and travel as a group. This slot canyon can easily be done by novice cannoneers but it is remote and seldom visited. See more..

  6. 5.0 Goblin's Lair Trail (1 review)
    - A really fun hike!
    Hiking Trails
    Goblin's Lair Trail image
This trail is a combination of well-marked sections, and route finding. It begins at the parking lot and at first goes out over some sandstone hills (ups and downs). Next comes a stroll across the desert and around the large formations seen from the trailhead. The trail is well-marked with signs. Don't worry about missing the path up to the Lair as there is a good sign. The climb to the lair is a bit steep. The opening to the cave looks like something out of Lord of the Rings. It is also somewhat difficult climbing down into the cave, but it's not as bad as it looks. Very nice hike with no one else on the trail during the first week in January. See more..
  7. 5.0 Farnsworth Canyon (1 review)
    - A very EASY and FUN Slot Canyon Hike.
    Spent 2-3 hours Canyons
    Farnsworth Canyon image
This slot canyon is easy to find, but will require a 4 wheel drive high clearance vehicle, or a 1 mile hike from the end of the serviced road area, to get the trailhead. This is a short, moderately narrow, fairly flat slot canyon, with a nice well marked trailhead. There are a few easy obstacles to climb over. It is a beautiful 2-3 mile hike for young and old, located about 2 miles NE of the intersection of Goblin Valley State Park, and Temple Mountain roads, on a dirt track that spurs off in a northeasterly direction. This canyon is located in the San Rafael Swell area, and is a geological marvel of sculpted sandstone and metamorphic rocks. Once you have hiked to the top of the slot section, the canyon opens up behind the cockscomb ridge, and reveals a beautiful hidden valley. There are lots of large cedars to provide shade for a very secluded picnic area. But, there are no services or amenities. This is raw nature. Before hiking back to the trailhead, take some time to explore this small valley. Discover the hidden alcoves, rock formations, and shear beauty of this quiet place. Bring plenty of water, especially on hot days. This is one of our favorite places to visit. It is easily accessible for the entire family. The trailhead is located at approximate GPS coordinates: N38.66646 deg. W110.61898 deg. See photos. See more..

  9. 4.5 Goblin Valley State Park (983 reviews)
    - Real Hidden Gem!! Magnificent Park!!
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours State Parks
    Goblin Valley State Park image
Cowboys searching for cattle first discovered secluded Goblin Valley. Then in the late 1920s, Arthur Chaffin, owner/operator of the Hite ferry, and two companions were searching for an alternative route between Green River and Caineville. They came to a vantage point about a mile west of Goblin Valley and were awed by what they saw, five buttes and a valley of strange-shaped rock formations surrounded by a wall of eroded cliffs. In 1949, Chaffin returned to the area he called Mushroom Valley. He spent several days exploring the mysterious valley and photographing its scores of intricately eroded creatures. The area was acquired by the state of Utah and in 1964 was officially designated a state park. Goblin Valley State Park is a showcase of geologic history. Exposed cliffs reveal parallel layers of rock bared by erosion. Because of the uneven hardness of sandstone, some patches resist erosion much better than others. The softer material is removed by wind and water, leaving thousands of unique, geologic goblins. Water erosion and the smoothing action of windblown dust work together to shape the goblins. Bedrock is exposed because of the thin soil and lack of vegetation. When rain does fall, there are few plant roots and little soil to capture and hold the water, which quickly disappears, in muddy streams without penetrating the bedrock. Opened to the public as a state park in 1964. Park Elevation - 5,000 feet See more..

    Hiking Trails
    Black Dragon Canyon Trail image
Close to town, easy access off interstate (don’t follow GPS) because you can reach it easier from highway. Dogs required to be on leash, but that wasn’t being followed, so we stayed away from trail with our dogs to avoid these people. Wonderful hiking areas all around, don’t just do the tourist thing, get out & explore. See more..

  13. 4.0 Crystal Geyser (102 reviews)
    - Photo op deluxe!
    Hot Springs & Geysers
    Crystal Geyser image
This was a second visit to the geyser. Whether the geyser is erupting or not, this is a beautiful place to visit, and truly appears to be somewhat of a hidden gem. If you like quiet solitude in nature this is it. There have only been two other cars both time we visited. If you're going specifically to see an eruption do some research prior and plan on spending some time there as the geyser has no regular schedule. The road starts off rough pavement and then is dirt. It seemed the road had been recently graded when we went because it really wasn't all that rough. The road has signs directing to geyser so pay attention. See more..
  14. 4.0 Green River State Park (72 reviews)

Great state park. ($45 was a bit much though). Back in site right by the showers were good. Showers worked good and were clean. Lots of pretty areas to walk and you could walk to the river. Lady at check in wasn’t very friendly but gentleman there was. See more..
  15. 4.0 Swasey's Beach (39 reviews)
    - Swasey's Beach, Green River, Utah
    Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
    Swasey's Beach image
We stopped at Swasey's Beach in Green River, Utah after a long drive from California. It was 90 degrees and we had our 3 dogs along with us. Swasey's Beach was the best stop ever!! The river is fast flowing so there wasn't swimming but you can definitely get your feet in the water. Beautiful sandy beach, trees and picturesque butte like mountains all around. Mid May and early evening made it perfect temperature wise. Apparently the end of May and onwards it gets super hot so best if later day and early season. Otherwise highly recommended! See more..
  16. 4.0 Green River Golf Course (2 reviews)

    Golf Courses

The course is a nine hole layout that plays at 3368 yards from the back tees, 2913 yards from the blue tees, 2902 from the white tees and around 2500 yards from the front tees. The course is relatively flat with three of the nine holes playing along the banks of the Green River. There is a nice mix of hole designs here and overall, playing here was a pleasant experience. 17. 4.0 Green River Launch Complex (1 review)
    - A fantastic piece of history
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Military Bases & Facilities
We spent about an hour wandering about this disused launch complex which you can drive thru on UT state route 19. There are signs about keeping out but it is clear that many people have visited the buildings from the looting of parts and the graffiti. Asking locally the advice was take a look around From Wikipedia The Utah Launch Complex was a Cold War military subinstallation of White Sands Missile Range for USAF and US Army rocket launches. In addition to firing Pershing missiles, the complex launched Athena RTV missiles with subscale (test) warheads of the Advanced Ballistic Re-entry System to reentry speeds and impact at the New Mexico range. From 1964 to 1975 there were 244 Green River launches, including 141 Athena launches[3] and a Pershing to 281 kilometers altitude.[4] "Utah State Route 19 runs through the Green River Launch Complex, which is south of the town and eponym of Green River."[4] See more..
  18. 3.5 Land Art - The Ratio and Elements (30 reviews)
    - One of the best places to watch a sunset
Spent 1-2 hours Monuments & Statues
Land Art - The Ratio and Elements image
From this hill you can see the small town of Green River, Utah, with the bookcliffs as its dramatic backdrop, and the interstate, and, of course, the large sculptures known as Ratio and Elements. As a local I enjoy going up this hill to watch sunsets. If you are in town and are looking for something to do in the evening I would recommend at least checking this place out. To get there: Turn South onto Airport road Carefully cross the tracks Immediately after the tracks turn right (West) down the dirt road (if you pass under the interstate you have gone too far, basically if you go 50 feet past the tracks you have gone too far), Follow this road to the top of the hill and enjoy See more..
