  1. 5.0 Hanging Lake Trail (2.206 reviews)
    - Trail is back open and worth it.
    Hiking Trails
    Hanging Lake Trail image
Trail is back open. Beautiful trail. It's a hard trail but I as a 38 year old, out of shape, middle aged male not used to the altitude was able to accomplish it. Despite being passed on the trail by people 20-30 years older than me and young children it was worth the challenge. The trail is very rocky but jist about anyone can do it. Take lots of breaks, bring lots of water. I would recommend hiking earlier in the day as it's a bit cooler. It was well worth it. See more..
  2. 5.0 Glenwood Vaudeville Revue (760 reviews)
    - Fantastic Value for the Money and a Load of Fun
    Monday: Dinner Theaters
    Glenwood Vaudeville Revue image
Enjoyable evening for mom, dad, and two older teens. Local food was tasty and the entertainment was above expectations. We got to see opening night for the season which was kinda cool. John is fantastic (reminded us of Dick Van Dyke’s multi-faceted talent) and the rest of the cast complemented one another well. The show was far longer than expected, an incredible value for the $, but maybe 30 mins too long as we got a little antsy towards the end. John’s pup, Hanz and Franz, and the church ladies were our favorites. Overall, highly recommended and a lot less expensive than I’d have imagined (including food costs). See more..

My wife and I rode this trail with our E-bikes on a beautiful fall day in October. We picked the river trail in Glenwood Springs and rode 20+ miles to Basalt. We had lunch at the Village Smithy in Carbondale which is great restaurant (see review) and easily accessible from the trail. Saw lots of wildlife and really enjoyed the well maintained trail! 8. 5.0 Ball Brewing (2 reviews)
    - BEST BEER ON THE WESTERN SLOPE
    Breweries
    Ball Brewing image
After a fun-filled day at the hot springs, we decided to have dinner here based upon online reviews. Reviews indicate that this is the best brewery in the area...and they are not wrong! The staff members here were the friendliest I've encountered in a LONG time. Not only were they knowledgeable about the beers, but they were great conversationalists and wanted to get to know their customers. My husband and I split a tasting of the entire beer menu. I typically despise IPAs, but their black IPA was one of my favorite beers on the menu! While this brewery doesn't serve food, there is almost always a food truck in the parking lot. Seating was plentiful, and the atmosphere was very laid back. If you can only go to one brewery to go to in Glenwood Springs, MAKE THIS YOUR CHOICE! See more..

  14. 4.5 Grizzly Creek Trail (105 reviews)
    - Not simply a rest stop
    Hiking Trails
    Grizzly Creek Trail image
To get to Hanging Lake you have to take the Grizzly Creek rest stop exit 121 and turn around to go east on I70. I took this as an opportunity to stop and stretch our legs. It’s a nice rest stop. Shady, lots of parking. There’s a boat dock and we saw some rafters. A nice path to walk and explore. You can walk down to the river’s edge and watch the rafters coming downriver. Nice restroom with soda and snack machines in the building. Picnic tables to sit and enjoy a meal at. It was pretty shady so we weren’t burning from the sun. I recommend stopping here if you’re passing through to rest at. There’s lots of activities too - hiking, walking, biking and rafting. See more..

  18. 4.5 High Canyon Adventures (37 reviews)
    - ATVing at Baird Ranch Sunset Trip
    Ranches
    High Canyon Adventures image
Wow. This was an amazing adventure. Although normally the ATVing is in groups, we were the only ones signed up, so one of the ranch owners took us out on the tour. The ATV was in good shape and easy to use (I'm pretty little and not super strong). The trails were just unbelievable, we rode up the mountains and the views were just stunning. We saw mule deer and got to see a working ranch. We felt very much a part of the family while we were there. A huge thunder storm moved in (not uncommon in July) and we made it to the dining area just in time. The steaks were phenomenal, perfectly seasoned and cooked. And sitting under the pavilion and watching the storm from up on the mountain was pretty cool. All in an all, I'd highly recommend this activity, it was fun, exciting, and delicious. See more..

We visited the library twice. My friend (a GS resident) borrowed a book for me that I read during my stay. She picked-up a new book that was being given away as part of a community book club event for a Colorado author. My impression was this is a centrally located library with a lot to offer to the community. See more..
