  2. 5.0 Fruita Community Center (12 reviews)
    - Excellent
    Spent 1-2 hours Sports Complexes
    Fruita Community Center image
Very nice facility. The kids loved this place. The only think I would change is for the Center to add more plastic chairs to the inside pool area. We went on a Sunday and there must have been over 200 people/kids at the indoor pool. I think I counted about 25 chairs (most of them had towel's on them. I also noticed about 50 people standing that I am sure would have loved to sit down. It would have been nice even if there were chairs stacked up so we could have got one. I am sure it is not always this busy however. Nice facility and the kids had a blast. See more..
  3. 5.0 Enstrom Candies (4 reviews)
    - Locally made toffee, coffee, and even breakfast!
    Monday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
    Enstrom Candies image
Enstrom's candy has been made in Grand Junction for 4 generations. They specialize in a chocolate coated almond toffee. It is certainly delicious. They now have several stores in town and in Denver. Their product line has been expanded to include toffee popcorn, truffles and all sorts of chocolates. And don't forget that they make there own ice cream! Around a hundred varieties (maybe about 20 available at a time). This retail location is on the south side of Fruita and an easy off/easy on from I-70. The Welcome Center, the Dinosaur Museum and the Vietnam Memorial are all close by. They have a full coffee/espresso bar. And in the morning they have breakfast burritos and sandwiches available. They also sell locally made pastries and an excellent Cheesecake Factory cheesecake featuring Enstrom's toffee (available by slice or whole pie). There is a small eating bar area. You can buy candies in a box or by the each. Awesome local spot! See more..

  7. 5.0 Cavalcade Performing Arts Center (1 review)
    - See a show or express your own creativity

    Cavalcade Performing Arts Center image
Dare I say funky? No - Cavalcade is so much more than that. It is a non-profit performing arts center located downtown in Fruita. It is a community spot for all kinds of performances - music, poetry, book signings. And, with the piano out front, it is a place to gather. It is run by volunteers and supports comedy, philosophy, art, conversation and, of course, music. It is the kind of place that everyone should want to have in their town. It is a place for people to gather and communicate. It is not pretentious and is incredibly inclusive. Years ago, there was a music spot in Santa Monica called McCabes. In that place, it was a music store that just happened to host shows. I get the same vibe at Cavalcade. This is a nice, low key place that wants to support creativity. There are restaurants, bars, coffee shops and fun little stores nearby. So - come take a look. There is an open mic night every Thursday. Once a month, there is a variety show. And there are many special events. Just check them out! See more..

    - A great day float on the Colorado !

    Rimrock Adventures image
We took the all day raft trip with Steve as our guide. There we’re only the four of us (2 adults and our two teenaged grandkids) on the adventure. And what an adventure it was! It truly could not have been better. Steve was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and a great companion. We learned so much about the area while floating or swimming down the beautiful and historic Colorado River. Safety was also number 1 with Steve. Amazing lunch provided at a beautiful spot to rest, jump in the river or hike to some old Native people sites. I would recommend this company for any river experiences. See more..

    Hiking Trails
    Devils Canyon Hiking Trails image
We couldn't take our dogs into the National Monument, of course, but we all loved the trails that are situated adjacent to the park on BLM land. You can drive easily to the trailheads and the trails are marked clearly. There were easier and more difficult trails to choose from. It was chilly but the sun was shining and the snow had melted from the trails. See more..

    Over the Edge Sports image
Came to Fruita-like everyone else-to take in the epic mountain bike riding the area has to offer. Day 1 of 3 my rear hub blows out. As I walked my bike back to the truck a guy tells me to check out Over the Edge. Called and was told they’d find a way to get me back riding. Not six weeks from now like I’d hear in hometown Albuquerque, but by COB today. Absolutely amazing. AND they charged me retail for parts and a very fair price for labor. The place was super busy. I know why. You have bike issues? Go to this place, they rock. See more..

    North Fruita Desert image
The trails at the North Fruita Desert, (aka 18 road) are pretty fun for most cyclists. Even the easier trails provide a rather high fun factor. That said, the other major networks in the area (Kokopelli, Lunch Loops) offer more variety, and much more in the way of entertainment and challenge for advanced riders. See more..

    - Huge area - many parts and place here

    McInnis Canyons Conservation Area image
It is hard to review McInnis Canyons Conservation Area - it is almost 125,000 square acres. There are hiking, biking, equestrian, and OHV trails through the area. Part of this area includes the Rabbit Valley Trails, Kokopelli Trails, the Fruita Paleo and Devils Canyon Trails, Rattlesnake Canyon, the Old Spanish Trail - really too many to mention. I think having each section called out would be more helpful to the tourist. Living here, we are in different parts of this conservation area at least weekly. Lucky us! See more..
  22. 4.0 Fruita Bike Park (1 review)
    - Great place for kids and adults-- lots of dirt jumps and other items to try out
    Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails
This free bike park is a great place for kids and adults to practice their tricks, build stamina, and hang out (and burn off kid-energy). It has a lot of dirt jumps of different sizes and heights for varying abilities, some pump tracks, and even an air pump if your tires get low. It's close to the Colorado River so you can also see interesting wildlife. There is a covered pavilion with tables/benches and drinking fountain (and a spot for dogs too) as well as benches throughout the park for those who are watching rather than biking or if you just need a break. Although the website says that there's a playground-- it's not a playground in a traditional traditional sense-- it's some practice climbing rocks and a large net. It's not appropriate for small children. While there are some trees mostly around the edges of the park, most of it is out in the sun, so make sure to use sunscreen. Additionally, there are a lot of ants so be careful where you step and sit. There are portable toilets and plenty of parking. See more..
