  1. 5.0 The Hub on the Hill (1 review)
    - A unique place that supports the local farming community
    Speciality & Gift Shops
We drove out of our way to go here to pick up some 'Farmers Cone Creamery' ice cream (we'd sampled some at a local event and it was delicious and worth the extra drive to have again). What we hadn't know about the Hub was how it supports MANY local farmers. We left with not only ice cream but also locally made maple BBQ sauce and salad dressings. There is also grass-fed beef, specialty granola, chocolate, crafts, etc. What also makes the Hub unique is the shopping experience. You pick out what you'd like and pay for it yourself. There is no 'staff' (though someone working in the kitchen was very friendly and came out to answer some questions for us). This place not only provides a way to purchase goods, but it serves the local community! Great idea and an interesting experience! See more..
  2. 5.0 Octagonal Schoolhouse (1 review)
    - Octagonal Schoolhouse
    Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
Located along along Route 22 in Essex (Boquet), New York, near Lake Champlain, is the Octagonal Schoolhouse. Blink, and you may miss it. Built in the early 1800s, this building boasts some rather thick, stone walls. A bell is located at the top. As the hours of visitation have changed during Covid-19, there is still a lot to be greatly admired from the exterior. After all, how many times does one have the opportunity to view an octagonally-shaped building? And, this one-room schoolhouse is included in the National Register of Historic Places. See more..

Apart from the wide variety of art from different local artists they had all sorts of interesting things. Great to have a walk around before catching the ferry to Vermont. I loved the wind canes that were for sale on the deck. See more..
