  1. 5.0 Grafton Pond Reservation (4 reviews)
    - Explore the outdoors in an hour or in a day
Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Grafton Pond Reservation image
The Grafton Pond Reservation is a tract of 930 acres of land which includes all of Grafton Pond in Grafton, NH The entrance is a parking area on Grafton Pond Road (go south on Potato Road off of route 4 in Canaan, NH and go 1.1 miles past Lockehaven Road. There is a parking lot for about a dozen cars and two port-a-potties in the summer. Most people either launch a kayak or a canoe and spend the day paddling around the myriad of islands and inlets. Others (like me) walk about 600 feet south of the parking lot and take the trail out to a point of land. There is a green gate on the left side to mark the entrance to the trail. The shore is almost completely undeveloped and loons abound. Note that there is no camping and no picnic tables or benches, so bring your own. See more..
  2. 5.0 Montcalm Golf Club (1 review)
    - Montcalm Golf Club...NOT TO BE MISSED!
    Golf Courses
We tripped over Montcalm Golf Club a year ago when returning from VT. If you are an avid golfer like we are you must play this course! After driving about a mile up a dirt road you arrive at the lovely clubhouse and stunning mountain vistas! We returned last week during foliage season and the round of golf was magnificent for both the setting and the course condition. The course is like a roller coaster ride as you go up, down, and around the gorgeous landscape. From a performance standpoint the course is challenging but not forbidding. The undulating greens take a lot of mastery with the short stick!! We have recommended it so highly that quite a few members from our home course outside of Boston have now visited it. Quick notes...they have an outstanding rate at the local Courtyard Marriott in Lebanon if you stay overnight...just mention you are there to play Montcalm. Also the Clubhouse food is excellent and the snack shack on the course even offers well-made alcoholic beverages. Greens fees with cart are reasonable with a great price/value relationship. Don't miss this extraordinary golf experience! See more..

    Enfield Shaker Museum image
Nestled in a valley between Mt. Assurance and Mascoma Lake, in Enfield, New Hampshire, the Enfield Shaker site has been cherished for over 200 years. At its peak in the mid 19th century, the community was home to three "Families" of Shakers. They practiced equality of the sexes and races, celibacy, pacifism and communal ownership of property. Shakers farmed over 3,000 acres of land, educated children in model schools and worshiped in the "Shaker Way." Today, their story is preserved by the Enfield Shaker Museum. • Tour the Great Stone Dwelling, the largest Shaker dwelling house ever constructed and home to the Museum. • Discover a world of faith and harmony through the Museum's collection of Shaker furniture, tools, clothing, photographs and agricultural implements. • Explore the Museum's herb and flower gardens, fields and hills. • Enjoy exhibits, special programs, concerts, guided tours and craft demonstrations. • Hike to the Shaker Feast Ground for a spectacular vista of the Shaker Village nestled along Mascoma Lake. • Shop at the Gift Shop, filled with Shaker-inspired reproductions, books, local crafts and farm products, as well as products from the Museum's renowned herb garden. Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette image
Pleasant, peaceful. Nice grounds for walking. There's a Stations of the Cross which requires some stairs and climbing. There's also a large Crucifix with wooden stairs in front, for you to climb up on your knees. They also have a walking loop for the Rosary, on flat ground. Nice little Chapel and gift shop. If you need a break from your hectic life, this is the place for you to help you slow down. You could spend a couple hours here or just a few minutes. This is also just down the road from the Enfield Shaker Museum which you might want to visit as well. See more..

I love going to the Shaker Field Dog Park with my two dogs! No matter what we always have a good time, whether there are lots of other dogs or no dogs and just lots of smells. The park is always clean, there is a fresh water pump, and the other people there are always friendly. Highly recommend this park to meet other dogs and other great people! See more..
