4 Star Places To Visit in Elk City, Oklahoma, United States (6)
4.5National Route 66 Museum(416 reviews) - Spectacular Museum, More than Just Route 66 Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
This museum was astonishing. It was one of the most well done museums we have ever been too. The American memorabilia is displayed so well. The displays are amazing and so interesting. We came because we’re on a Route 66 adventure and it did not disappoint in that area but had so much more. This is a must see museum for any driving through Oklahoma on Route 66 and honestly I would recommend it anyone on Route 66 or otherwise.See more..
4.5Old Town Museum(70 reviews) - Fun for history buffs Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
The combination of museums here makes for a nice stop. One admission fee pays to visit all but there's nothing stopping you from wandering around Old Town. In fact, we accidentally did that first because there's a lack of signage to see go to this specific part and pay before you wander around. Despite not being able to go inside the buildings of Old Town, (mostly just peer through windows), I really liked it. Though I was only part-way through a Route 66 trip, it felt like the town represented the entire trip, even though that's not what it's supposed to be. It just felt symbolic and fitting. The portion specifically devoted to Route 66 is fun too and offers a couple of scenes to imagine different eras and stops. (I marked travelled as solo because there's no family option w/o children. Some of us drive around our senior parents. That's family last time I checked.)See more..
The Farm and Ranch Museum while not as interesting in my opinion as nearby museum still deserves your time, worth a look around, most of it outdoors.See more..

Every once in a while when I need to unwind,I take a trip to Ackley Park in Elk City Oklahoma U.S.A. This place with its wonderful trees the duck pond as well as the very well kept grounds creates a most relaxing environment for anyone who enters this park.During the Christmas season Ackley Park is changed into a most delightful wonderland of lights in fact this light display is by far the best I have seen in the state No matter what time of year you may venture into Ackley Park you will be most happy that you did. The play Honkeytonk Angels was the last show that my wife and I enjoyed at the Red carpet theater in Elk City Oklahoma. This community theater is a well appointed little theater that has done more and more to help the performing arts in this town there have been so very many excellent Broadway type shows that have been done with the utmost professional results. Over the many years that I have lived in the town of Elk City I have enjoyed many Broadway type shows at the Red Carpet theater. I would highly recommend if you are in the Elk City area, catch one of the shows there. D.J.JulianSee more..
