    - Awesome day on the Wind River

    Wind River Flyfitter image
Our family of 5 had a fantastic time on our 1/2 day fly fishing trip with Gill and Bill from Wind River Flyfitter in Dubois WY. They set us up with all the gear needed and took great care of us providing water and assistance as needed to be safe on the river. We all had different skill levels and they took ample time with each of us to get us comfortable on the river. We all caught trout and white fish and would recommend this trip for anyone visiting this beautiful part of WY. See more..
  2. 5.0 Jackson Hole’s Continental Divide Dogsled Adventures (81 reviews)
    - Amazing Dog Sledding Adventure!
    Nature & Wildlife Tours
Jackson Hole’s Continental Divide Dogsled Adventures image
What an absolutely amazing experience. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt because the dogs do seem skinny and are living outside in the snow (they have warm dog houses), but once I met my guide and learned the ins and out of the operation I was amazed at how well taken care of and loved the dogs are. They were all so vocal and excited when they saw the sleds being hooked up. They LOVE their job and love to run. They were so happy and loved the attention we gave them! It was hard to leave and I wanted to take them all home. One word of caution: I was surprised how bumpy the ride was. Like VERY rough at the beginning. It smoothed our after the first few minutes, but if you have any orthopedic issues I do not advise this adventure. Otherwise would recommend this company to anyone thinking of dog sledding! 3. 5.0 National Museum of Military Vehicles (74 reviews)
    - World class museum in an improbable place
Friday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Military Museums • Speciality Museums • History Museums
National Museum of Military Vehicles image
You may not expect it in a small Wyoming town so close to Yellowstone National Park, but the National Museum of Military Vehicles is our nation's premier, world-class military history museum. We’re dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families and active-duty servicemen and women. We tell their stories in three major galleries through immersive exhibits focusing currently on World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The 160,000 sq. foot Museum currently displays the world’s largest private collection of over 500 fully restored military vehicles. Also, the Museum presents a historically significant major firearms collection that includes the fully authenticated musket that fired the first shot in the Revolutionary War Battle of Bunker Hill. And the Museum continues to grow with its recent opening of The Canteen (food court) and Assembly Hall in the new Poolaw Building. Admission is FREE to veterans and active-duty servicemen and women. 5. 5.0 Dubois Scenic Overlook (16 reviews)
    - Best short drive or fitness climb to a world-class view
Spent < 1 hour Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
    Dubois Scenic Overlook image
When the team from Google and UC Berkeley chose Dubois as the headquarters for their project to film the 2018 eclipse, they went to the top of the Scenic Overlook for the view. You can get there too, and easily, by driving up the dirt road on the north side of the highway just west of the Town Park. Or you can take a more challenging route by hiking up from the highway and then taking the trail from the mid-level (a popular workout for locals). Either way, when you get to the top you achieve a spectacular view of the town below, the badlands to the east, and the Wind River and Absaroka Mountains to the west. Here, by the way, you can see all four mountain-building processes (glacial, volcanic, and tectonic) from one location. It's also a wonderful place to go to orient yourself if you're staying in the area for a while. See more..

  8. 5.0 Whiskey Basin (6 reviews)
    - Beautiful March trip
    Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Whiskey Basin image
We took the Glacial Trail back to the falls, it was quite a trek for us, took about an hour there and much less time back (out of shape, altitude, ice, mud). Had a beautiful day and great experience. The falls were frozen this time of year, but the water underneath still flowed and sounded wonderful. Even seen the elusive big horn sheep by the second lake on the way out. My adult son and husband was with me, not an option to choose. See more..

Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
    Jade Lake Trail image
Follow a flat trail past a heavenly blue lake (great for fishing) and then head slowly uphill to these two hidden lakes at the base of a cathedral-like granite cliff formation. In early to mid-summer you will be passing through fields carpeted with wildflowers that will remind you of that dizzying poppy scene in the Wizard of Oz. If heaven isn't this good, you don't want to go there. You can take the entire loop past Jade Lake and Upper Brooks Lake, or simply go to one or the other. Take bear spray! Maps are available from the US Forest Service office in Dubois. To reach the trailhead, turn north off Highway 26/287 just past Lava Mountain Lodge heading west from Dubois toward Jackson. Follow the dirt road all the way to the end, past Brooks Lake Lodge and down to the parking lot at lakeside. There is a small gate an an information sign at the trailhead. See more..

We visited DuBois on days 8 and 9 of our out West Yellowstone trip. We wanted somthing to do on a hot day that didn't require a ton of hiking. I called on a Sunday morning at 9 and they arranged for a guide to come in and take our family of 4 out for the noon float. It was just our family and our guide took us down the Wind River giving us some historical information along the way. Our kids were able to swim and we had a wonderful time on our trip! - The very best!
    Ranches
    Bitterroot Ranch image
Our week-long visit to Bitterroot ranch and the wonderful Fox family really was my holiday-of-a-lifetime. All four of us are experienced riders, and i am an equestrian professional, so we were really looking for a great riding holiday -and it truly was.... An astoundingly beautiful location in the heart of Wyoming, great horses suited to the needs of every rider, beautiful and varied trails, wonderful hosts, great wranglers, attention to details and to safety... I could go on and on... Good food, very cute and comfortable acco... We went on a pack trip which was extremely well organised by Richard and Chilly and took us through great terrain, all the way up to Castle Rock. Camping by the river, campfire, horses grazing nearby... But mostly it was all about the people -seriously professional, warm, funny... In just a week, we felt that we belonged there... Thank you so much Richard, Hadley, Bayard and Mel for the way you are so passionate... See more..
  18. 4.5 Dubois Town Park (8 reviews)
    - Great place for a picnic or a gentle riverside stroll
    Spent < 1 hour Parks
    Dubois Town Park image
The charming and well-kept Town Park in Dubois is adjacent to two major attractions, the Bighorn Sheep Center and the Dubois Museum. It contains tree-shaded picnic areas, a very tiny riverside beach suitable for toddlers to paddle in, and a paved river walk that extends on both sides of the lovely Wind River. Follow the riverwalk to the west end of the park to find the footbridge that will take you to the other side of the river, where it passes alongside a large field of native sagebrush and grass. The Superfoods supermarket is almost directly across the highway, so it's a terrific place to stop for a picnic en route. Don't miss the Scenic Overlook just slightly to the west and across the highway. You can drive a steep dirt road to the top for an extraordinary birds' eye view of the entire landscape, from the badlands to the west to the tree-covered mountains on the way to Jackson and Yellowstone. See more..
  19. 4.5 Wind River Lake (6 reviews)
    - What a treat!
Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
    Wind River Lake image
Ok folks this is the Labor Day holiday and Teton was teeming with people, I was literally the only one at Wind River Lake. The only car. The only person in sight. This is located just off the main highway immediately west of the Continental Divide sign. The sign on the way just indicates a picnic area. There is a small dock that extends out over the water about 20 feet or so and there is a faint path that circles the lake. Maybe a 1/2 mile altogether all the way around. The views are incredible.
