This is a great museum. The displays are very informative and interesting. We spent three hours there but could have stayed longer. There is so much to see. Our guide was a wealth of information. As a descendant of people in the Deerfield Massacre I was grateful to see the artifacts from the raid on Deerfield in 1704. See more..

In June 2007 while visiting our daughter in Southwick MA, we took a tour of Historic Deerfield. I took a picture of the outside of the Frary House/Barnard Tavern. We went inside and while the family was viewing some artifacts, I went into an inner room, where there were no windows. Took a picture of the wall, and when the picture was reviewed there was something else in the picture. I will not reveal what I and a couple of paranormal investigators saw, will leave it up to you. Also in the picture of the outside, look under the porch and the shadow and possibly state what you see. See more..

The person who started building this most interesting house was my 7th great uncle, Ebenezer Wells. Through a guided tour, the house leads you from around 1735 through the next century with its additions. It was first painted blue in 1802. Who would have guessed! I was fascinated by the early storage barrels that were made out of huge logs which were burned on the inside so the colonials could hollow them out for storage to keep out the vermin. See more..

The ridge offers a terrific short hike into classic Berkshire wilderness. The views the famous "Rock" are wonderful. Try to go in the autumn when the leaves are turning. You will never forget it. See more..
