This is a beautiful area - 82 acres overlooking Buzzard's Bay. You can visit for free - many hiking trails. They also have canoe's & kayaks (not sure if those are free). They also have many scheduled programs for kids which have a minimal cost as well as programs they run with local schools and kids groups. I visited with a group of my friends and we had a guided canoe trip visiting the nesting osprey, seeing a family ducks and many other birds. We picnic'd on the beach and then returned to the center. Our guide (Erica) was fantastic - she even squeezed a little horseshoe crab lesson with a few kids we passed on the beach (so fun to watch them). It was very reasonably priced ($25 per person for non-members) - especially since you could have visited and hiked for free! It was a fun, relaxing morning (yes - even canoeing can be relaxing). I will definitely return and take advantage of those hiking trails. See more..

Although this building and store has been around for 200+ years; this was the first time that I stopped in, and it was on a whim while driving by. What a quaint and excellent place, stocked with food, candy, gifts, and souvenirs! I believe in supporting Mom & Pop stores like this, and the owners were very nice people. I love how this area never changes, and this store is part of it. I will definitely stop in again, and do should you! Two rabbit ears up!! (\ (\ ( -.-) o_(“)(“) See more..
  4. 5.0 Dartmouth Orchards (1 review)
    - Best peaches EVER!
    Farmers Markets
The peaches at this place are unbelievable. The owner tells the story of how he used to supply a gourmet grocery store and I believe it. Definitely worth a stop if you're going to New Bedford or passing through. Easy to find and really friendly people. Definitely will be back! See more..

    Hiking Trails

First off: there’s no *actual* address, but you’ll notice the sign for the entrance on Slades Corner. There’s plenty of paths to take, but just make sure you follow the colored markers on the tree! There’s benches throughout to take a seat on, too, if you get tired. I loved coming here and I can’t wait to explore the other trials! See more..

I surprised my husband with a trip out here on our anniversary to cross and take photos on the swinging bridge. Unfortunately the site that listed this wonderful place was not up to date and the swinging bridge is no longer there do to age and over usage! We were very disappointed but, opted to hike in anyway! We were so glad we did, there are several raised boardwAlks and some benches to sit and relax on while observing local wildlife. It was oppressively hot but, we found this an easy hike. We did the red trail and in and back was approximately 5 miles. There are yellow, blue, green and black trails also. We will come again and try those! It’s a beautiful area with or without the swinging bridge. I hope that they rebuild! The trails were clearly marked and well kept. There were maps at the trail head, plenty of parking and we chose to picnic lunch here as well! Don’t forget to Bring water! See more..
