  5. 5.0 J C Leacock Photo Gallery (2 reviews)
    - Wonderful! Inspiring!
Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries
We sought out this gallery after seeing JC Leacock's works on the walls of the condo we were staying in. His work is spectacular and inspired us to try to find the vantage points of a couple of his photographs. Viewing his work allows one to re-visit one's trip to the wildflowers of Crested Butte. It is easy to "get lost" in his work in all the right ways. If you are "taken" with his work, his photographs are mounted on a variety of materials and in assorted sizes (including postcards) that allow any budget to take home a piece of Crested Butte. 6. 5.0 Lazy F Bar Ranch (2 reviews)
    - A Unique Crested Butte Experience!
    Ranches
We began the evening with a shuttle bus trip from downtown Crested Butte to the staging area for the horse drawn sleighs. There were two sleighs with two horses pulling each one. Blankets helped keep us cozy as we went through the night to the little cabin for dinner. The service at the restaurant was excellent, but the dinner merits probably three stars. It was tasty, but the highlight of the evening was the sleigh ride. The food was tasty, but not spectacular. It was a great evening and I'd love to go again the next time I'm in Crested Butte. 7. 5.0 Crested Butte Mountain Summit Trail #605 (1 review)
    - Amazing hike
    Hiking Trails
Crested Butte Mountain Summit Trail #605 image
It was great hike to the top of the Crested Butte Mountain. The trail was very challenging, especially at the upper part, near the summit. Loose rocks could surprise you at anytime. It was tricky for me, carrying two large cameras, I had to be double careful. Lower part of Summit Trail had beautiful vegetation and some snow(in mid-July). Closer to the top, more plats were disappearing. Views were gorgeous in any direction at any time during the hike. If you have problems being high, better don't go there, at least to the last, rocky part of the trail. If you will reach the summit, you can enjoy awesome view of the Crested Bute city and the whole valley. You can see also Crested Butte Resort. Because of high elevation, I had to make brakes, drink some water and catch an extra air. The top is basically a pile of rocks. There is not much rom for many people. It was very windy at the summit, even the weather was very sunny and warm. If you want to take a ride down, using the Silver Queen Chairlift, be sure, that you go down early enough, to be at the station before 2pm. This is the time of the last ride down. If you will miss this ride, the only option for you is to hike down to the city It takes about 3 hours! I strongly recommend this Summit Trail. Roman See more..

  16. 4.5 Meridian Lake (23 reviews)
    - Love swimming in mountain lakes? This is the place!!
Bodies of Water • Hiking Trails
    Meridian Lake image
One of my favorite things in the world is swimming in a cool mountain lake. This one is special because you get a nice short hike before hand, then a breathtaking view! You can go right down to the edge and plunge in, or you can do a little cliff jumping. The water is not as cold as I thought it would be at this elevation. It was very comfortable. One thing to note is that a map I read said you can hike all the way around the lake, but the path was blocked by private residence barbed wire. Maybe I missed something, but it did seem limited. We just did the Juud Falls portion of this. You can hike up from the lower parking lot, or, if you have a high clearance vehicle, you can drive to the upper parking lot. Snodgrass Skin Mountain Trail image
Nice hike for beginning of our stay in this region. Wild flowers are beautiful. They were everywhere!(July). You are walking like over the carpet. Bottom part a little bit easier. We've met people riding horses. The mountain bikers were there too. It was very busy place. Up higher was less busy and more beautiful! You can see whole valley and Mount Crested Butte behind. It was hot, so drinking water was necessary. Later, we saw other side of the valley. It was awesome. On the way down, there was a big area with aspen trees. They've looked so nice. I recommend this trail for everybody. Don't forget the bottle with water and sunscreen. Hat may be good too. RomanP See more..

  25. 4.5 Walrod Cave Loop Trail (2 reviews)
    - Exciting hike
    Hiking Trails
We enjoyed this hike but the first part is definitely a strenuous climb. The views are great but this is a factor of there being very few trees so wear sunscreen and a hat. Traveling counter-clockwise would make the climbing easier. The caves are pretty cool just watch your step! See more..

    Crested Butte Cemetery image
Cemeteries are part of the culture and history. Whenever is an opportunity, I try to go and see these places. You can learn about the city, about the people. I've visited this place only once. I was planing to comeback in different part of the day, but unfortunately there was no time for that. I've missed the graves related to the mining tragedy. Location of this place is so beautiful. 29. 4.0 Silver Queen Express Chairlift (5 reviews)
    - Great attraction for hikers
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Silver Queen Express Chairlift image
All my experience with this chair lift is great! It's important addition to summer season in the area. One of the biggest hiking attraction, going to the summit of Mountain Crested Butte, wouldn't be so quick without opportunity to "jump" hundreds of feet on elevation to the point, where you can start your journey, hiking to the peak. When on the lift, you can be amazed by beautiful views of the region. We had to wear the face masks because of the freaking virus. The last ride down is at 2:15 pm. If you want to reach the peak of the Mountain Crested Butte and use the lift going down, you have to start your day early enough. I've calculated, that since you are at the top station of the lift, you need about 3 hours to be able to get to the summit without any rush, take some pictures and hike down to the lift. More time you have, better for you. There is many beautiful spots there. RomanP P.S. I am surprised that my previous review hasn't been published! See more..
