  3. 5.0 North Clear Creek Falls (104 reviews)
    - Hidden Gem
Spent < 1 hour Nature & Wildlife Areas • Geologic Formations • Waterfalls
    North Clear Creek Falls image
This hidden gem is away from the crowds but right off the road. We initially were confused on location because GPS took us to the middle of Crede and the reviews were not specific. Without great reception in the area I had to ask for directions. The Falls are actually another 20 miles north of Crede; between Crede and Lake City. It is well worth the drive. We agree w/ others on TA. A real hidden gem. See more..

Silver Thread Scenic and Historic Byway image
If taking this scenic highway south make sure to stop at the visitor's center in Lake City. They gave us some great ideas for this drive, including a guidebook that explained all the sites along the way. Unfortunately we ran into some nasty thunderstorms heading towards Creede. We managed to get in some great views including Lake San Cristobal, Sherman Historic Town Site, Windy Point Overlook and North Clear Creek Falls. See more..

Creede & Mineral County Visitor Center image
Scenic views of the Rio Grande River Valley are visible for the first few miles of the trip. The 9.4-mile scenic and relatively remote gravel road climbs through spruce/fir/aspen timber to beautiful rolling, grassy, subalpine parks and passenger car travel ends at Hanson's Saw Mill (pit toilet). The road begins on the north side of CO-194, approximately 7.3miles SE of Creede. See more..

I am a return customer, but visited the museum with family members that had never been there before. Love this little GEM! So much history of Creede! Everyone had a really good time learning about Creede! For those interested, there is a scavenger hunt for kiddies and those that ask! The winner gets a rock! We played and we all got really cool rocks! AND the staff is really great! Very knowledgeable and friendly! 2 bucks admission fee for adults! Definitely worth the price for some historic fun! Square Peg has a brew for every taste. Bartender is friendly and accommodating. The Duke brew is very smooth and flavorful. The red is very good as well. Also, great sloppy joe sandwiches from an independent vendor in the back of the building. A brisket style sloppy joe with a slight BBQ flavor. Will be back. See more..
  18. 4.5 Creede ATV (6 reviews)
    - Excellent Adventure
    Monday: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours
    Creede ATV image
My wife and I rented an ATV from Creede ATV for a half day. We were extremely pleased with Mary and Mark who scheduled our adventure. They allowed us to slip our reservation one day due to high winds. The rate was very reasonable and the equipment operated flawlessly. Mark gave me a short three minute checkout on operating the vehicle that allowed me to feel quite confident driving the trails. I would highly recommend using Creede ATV if you are looking for an ATV rental! Mary and Mark were personable, capable and a joy to deal with. See more..
  19. 4.5 Rat Creek (2 reviews)
    - Rat Creek Loop off Bachelor Loop a blast. Scenic at altitude, & just challenging enough to be exciting, not dangerous.
Spent 2-3 hours Scenic Drives • Off-Road & ATV Trails
    Rat Creek image
Rented a 4-seater from Creede Adventure Rentals. Easy and quick process. Took out with map in hand. We did Engineer Pass out of Lake City a couple of years ago and we were concerned that this would not measure up! No issue. Although Engineer took more skill and was more challenging, Rat Creek Loop is way more scenic than Engineer. So for couples that want a challenge, go to Lake City. But For a great family adventure, can’t beat Rat Creek! See more..
  20. 4.0 Tommyknocker Tavern and B.B.Q. Bistro (6 reviews)
    - Worth the trip!
    Monday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 AM Bars & Clubs
Tommyknocker Tavern and B.B.Q. Bistro image
The Mammoth Mountain bbq sandwich is FABULOUS!!! All their sandwiches are $13.99 & come with one side. We chose kettle fried potato chips. While $13.99 sounds expensive, it could easily feed 2 people. This sandwich is spicy sausage, beef, bacon, white American & pepper jack cheeses, lettuce & tomato on a caibatta roll. BBQ sauce is on table to be added as desired. Do not miss this antique place! See more..
  21. 4.0 South Clear Creek Falls (1 review)
    - South Clear Creek Falls
    Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
Most people traveling between Creede and Lake City on Colo 149 can easily stop and see North Clear Creek Falls. Finding South Clear Creek Falls is a little more difficult. The entrance to South Clear Creek Falls is south on 149 from the North Falls. Where County Road 10 dead ends into 149 from the north you will see a sign for South Clear Creek Falls Campground on the south side of 149. Take the campground road south until you come to a sign that says "Parking Falls." Park there and you will see a sign that indicates that the Falls are 900 feet ahead on a trail. The trail is a somewhat steep hike down (and, of course, back up). Although fairly short, it is not for anyone with ambulatory deficits. At the end of the trail you will find yourself across the gorge from the Falls, where the view is good and photos can be taken. South Clear Creek Falls are about one-third the size of the North Falls, but very much worth viewing. They are more secluded, in a shady forest, with little to no other tourists around. It appears there is a trail which takes one to the base of the Falls and perhaps even behind them, but was not explored by this reviewer. See more..
  22. 3.0 Big Country Fun Rentals (2 reviews)
    - Wonderful Ride
Spent More than 3 hours Gear Rentals
We rented a 6 passenger ATV and took my son, his wife and our 5yr old granddaughter & 8yr old grandson. Packed a lunch and cooler and proceeded to the mountains. We all loved every minute of it. Great weather and ATV. Big Country had an issue with our original reserved ATV but upgraded us without the higher cost. Such a terrific memory and explored the trails through the mountains all day. Would rent from them again as they were very helpful and had great equipment. Thanks Big Country! See more..
