I can't recommend this activity more. I'm originally from PDX and have been through the Gorge a million times. The trolley gave us a close up and leisurely trip. We scheduled lunch at the Multnomah Falls Lodge. It was so great to have admission to the Falls included in our very affordable ticket price. See more..
  2. 5.0 Wiesendanger Falls (1 review)
    - Beautiful Area!
    Waterfalls
    Wiesendanger Falls image
You can reach Wiesendanger Falls from the Larch Mountain Trail #441. It's about .3 miles up from the junction at Multnomah Falls Overlook spur. Beautiful country abounds in this are, and it's well worth the trip to these falls. They are also easier to get closer too than some of the other falls, you don't have to worry about drop offs or cliff here. I really enjoyed the solitude here as it was away from the crowds. We only saw a few hikers in the area. Really was nice to enjoy the falls and take in the surroundings. See more..

    - Awesome upper and lower falls with great hike

We stopped on the Columbia river gorge drive and walked the short 1/4 mile to the beautiful lower falls overlook that is easy to reach. There is an architecturally stunning bridge nearby with a trail around the area leading to an upper falls and a picnic area nearby. We decided to take the upper falls hike - 2 Miles loop and we’re not disappointed. The crowds were far less along the trail and at the upper falls. It was a fairly easy hike with a pretty good uphill climb and beautiful views the entire way. Parking was tight but we were early and found a space. There are outhouse facilities which smelled terribly even from a distance so we skipped using them. See more..
  5. 4.5 Bridal Veil Falls State Park (263 reviews)
    - Beautiful falls, easy hike

Bridal Veil Falls State Park image
Driving the Columbia River Gorge historic highway 30 and stopped to view the falls. Parking was tough as it was busy, but someone was leaving as we drive in so we were lucky. There are picnic areas, restrooms, a nature trail as well as the trail to the falls. The trail to the falls is about .5 miles each direction and is fairly easy to hike. The falls are beautiful and can be seen from the bridge on the trail, but are only fully viewed from the overlook stop a little further up the trail. It was busy the day we visited and people were climbing rocks and wading in the water at the base of the falls but we were able to get to the overlook and enjoy the site. See more..

Up to 5 major peaks (Rainier, St. Helens, Adams, Hood, Jefferson) visible depending on visibility. Unfortunately in our visit only Mt. Hood was visible (22 mi away), but it was worth it. Relatively easy ~15 minute hike up a well laid out trail from the parking lot. See more..

  10. 4.0 Rooster Rock State Park (76 reviews)
    - Labor Day River Dip
    State Parks
    Rooster Rock State Park image
We were out to Cascade Licks in Labor Day to buy fresh caught salmon, so we stopped on the way back for a dip in the Columbia River at Rooster Rock. I have been here several times over the years. It’s a great park for a picnic and an ideal spot for a cool swim. Yeah, there’s a clothing optional area but that’s way far away from where the families and kids play and picnic in the sand. On a warm weekend expect lots of people but the park is huge and there is a lot of parking. See more..

  12. 4.0 George W. Joseph State Natural Area (1 review)
    - A great place to hike to see Upper Latourell Falls
    State Parks
George W. Joseph State Natural Area image
I went to Latourell Falls last week to hike, so I was in George W. Joseph State Natural Area while hiking. It is located at the south end of Talbot Park. Just take the trail from Guy W. Talbot Park. This is the trail staring from the parking lot just east of the bridge at Latourell Falls on the old Scenic Gorge Highway. The trail is pave up to the first observation point. Once you get to the top area of Latourell Falls, this is where George W. Joseph State Natural Area starts. The trail continues back to Upper Latourell Falls running on the east side of the stream (Latourell Creek). The trail crosses a bridge at the splash pool of Upper Latourell Falls at around the 0.8 miles point. Continuing on this loop trail will ring you back down along the west side of the creak and down to the Scenic Highway to the west side of the bridge. You can either cross the bridge and return to the parking lot. Or cross the road and walk down the stone steps and follow the path to the Lower part of Talbot Park where you will find a grassy picnic area. A path to the right goes under the bridge and takes you to the plunge pool of Lower Latourell Falls. Continuing on this trail will bring you back up to the parking area. This is an easy 2.3 mile loop and well worth experiencing all the sites you will see as you walk along the trail. See more..

We went to play disc golf, it was the first time for a few of us and we had a terrific time. The course was fun, it's not really marked well on where to start but if you talk with the others they will help. We had a great time, well worth the $5 Parking fee that they charge. See more..
