Located in northern Idaho, this lakefront resort offers five-star amenities in a beautifully rugged setting. Visitors enjoy everything from pristine golf courses and professional quality tennis courts to hiking on pine-forested trails and biking through natural preserves. The Art Spirit Gallery image
Established in 1997, The Art Spirit Gallery features high-quality, original work by regional artists embracing a diversity of mediums and styles. The gallery seeks to exhibit artists with a unique voice that show a dedication to craft, materials, observation and creativity. The 4,000 square foot gallery has hosted about 200 exhibitions and curated shows, generally opening on the second Friday of each month. It's a vibrant art environment that makes art collecting and browsing relaxed and enjoyable. Gallery founder Steve Gibbs started the gallery after a successful 15-year career as an art director and graphic designer. He strived to promote high-quality art in the resort community of Coeur d’Alene while fostering the work of local and regional artists. He joined with various arts organizations to actively promote art education and develop awareness and participation in the arts on a community and state level. Since Steve's passing on December 31, 2016, the gallery is continuing to move forward to keep his beautiful legacy alive. We have also recently collaborated with the University of Idaho to create the Art Spirit Education Collaboratory. This non-profit will run alongside the for-profit gallery as an educational arts entity. We are proud to celebrate 20 years of business in July 2017! See more..

The Coeur d'Alene National Forest is located in such a beautiful part of Idaho and Montana. It is easy to drive through on the Interstate, but also beautiful to get off the main road and camp or hike. I also loved driving up through into Thompson Falls, MT, then back around through Sandpoint, ID, then down to Coeur d'Alene. You can enter the forest from several access points. See more..

  8. 5.0 Lake City Church (1 review)
    - Friendly and welcoming
    Churches & Cathedrals
My family and I were just visiting Coeur d'Alene for the weekend and wanted to go to church. We walked into a big open room, with a free coffee cart front and center. Everything was well-marked and easy to get to. The greeters at the door were friendly and helpful. The service itself was energetic and God-honoring. They were teaching on the attributes of God, with love being the focus this weekend. My family and I loved the sermon and the lead pastor, who seemed to have such compassion. If I lived here, I would definitely come back and get plugged in. See more..

  15. 4.5 Mineral Ridge National Recreation Trail (33 reviews)
    - Shady and fairly easy
    Hiking Trails
Mineral Ridge National Recreation Trail image
This continues to be one of our favorite hikes near CdA as it takes us only about 20 minutes to get here. The loop is about 2.7 miles as you do it counter clockwise. This is an excellent year round hike and we do this in winter as well wearing stabilicers if the trail is snow covered. Nice and forested throughout with minimal sun exposure. Children and dogs regularly do this hike so it's not difficult. There is a covered picnic table on the ridge about 1.2 mi from the trailhead. Parking is usually easy although on summer weekends the lot can be full and no parking is allowed along the highway. See more..

    Frontier Ice Arena image
I would definitely recommend this as an indoor activity when the outside climate is not right for doing other activities. We had a very good time ice-skating at this arena. They rent skates, they also rent helmets it was very clean everyone was friendly and the ice was well-maintained as well as the rink and the wall. I thought the price was very reasonable and I am glad that we added this onto our trip. See more..

The NTM collection is largely representative of the last century of mainstream tattoo subculture in North America. - Such a Fun Place to Visit
Wednesday: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Sports Complexes
The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center image
We love to go to the Kroc center whenever we are in Northern Idaho! I wish there was one near us in Oregon. We have only used the pool area, but the climbing wall and gyms look top notch, as well. I loved the fact that it was very family friendly with cabaña's to change in that were private for each family. The staff that checked us in was very kind and friendly. The lifeguards were a bit on the grumpy side, but they probably were just taking their job seriously!!! All in all this is a great place to make some really special memories together!! See more..

My wife and I heard about this petting zoo from some friends who had petted the baby otters -- and we had to visit. We loved the otter encounter, having 3 wiggly baby otters to pet and enjoy. The other animals, including the wallabies, were so much fun too. It was well worth the visit. See more..

Coeur d'Alene Parkway State Park image
Walkers, hikers, and cyclists of all ages love Coeur d’Alene Lake Parkway State Park. Spend the day on foot, on a bike or on the half-mile long beach. The paved parkway lies along the north shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene and has 5.7 miles of non-motorized fun. The parkway is part of the nationally famous North Idaho Centennial Trail, a multi-use recreational trail system that meanders for 24 miles from the Idaho/Washington state line. 28. 4.0 Cherry Hill BMX Park (1 review)
    - BMX a spectator sport? Yup.
    Spent 1-2 hours Sports Complexes
We watched races with wee ones (3-year-olds?) up to bigguns (20-somethings) during a Saturday racing event which had about 32 riders in all zipping around the 932-foot USA BMX sanctioned field. Parents, grandparents and friends all cheered the kids along. Bleachers are situated at different spots along the sort-of circular trail. It lost a star in my rating because the track caters to its own crowd. As a newbie, I was clueless about amenities at the track and had to email for the information. See more..
  29. 3.5 Fort Sherman (7 reviews)
    - Some correction about this historical site....
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Military Bases & Facilities
    Fort Sherman image
Incorrect historical information information is given about this site and its namesake: General Wm Tecumseh Sherman was NEVER commander at the location reviewed, nor was he even posted there in any capacity. His visit to the area in late 1870's prompted the recommendation of the site for a U.S. fort. He visited later as well, but was never a commander. (P.S. I've lived in the area and worked on the college campus site for over 35 years and even researched some of its early maps at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.) See more..
