Wow. We. Did we want to stay. Passing thru on the way home to Delaware from our usual trek to/from Lancaster, PA, we decided to take a peek at south Chesapeake City that views north Chesapeake City, Maryland across the C & D canal (Chesapeake Bay & Delaware Bay). Glad we peeked. Sorry we didn't stay...this time. We plan to be back...soon. What a neat place. The Canal, boats everywhere, people mingling about, sweet old period homes, restaurants to eat local fare, shops and boutiques to wander about, the 17 mile Mike Castle and Ben Cardin rail-trails pass through here situated along the canal. Vantage points here provide up close and personal experience with the cargo ships traversing to/from the two bays. Whew! Can't wait to explore and experience Chesapeake City north and south. 3. 5.0 Off Da' Hook Fishing Charter (1 review)
    - Great day of Fishing!
    Fishing Charters & Tours
Off Da' Hook Fishing Charter image
Captain Lamont Wright is a really great Captain to go fishing with. He is personable and works very hard to make sure he gets you on the fish. This was our first time fishing with him and we have never had such a fantastic day of fishing. There were four of us and each of us caught sixty some fish. It seemed like all we had to do was drop the line and in minutes we had one or two fish. Yes, we had double hooks on the line and many times throughout the trip we came up with doubles. His boat has seating on both sides and all the way up to the bow of the boat. In addition, he has seating in the back of the boat. So, no matter what spot on the boat you choose, you can sit down. Captain Lamont's prices are very reasonable and all of us look forward to fishing with him again in the near future. If you want a good day of fishing, call Captain Lamont. If you go, say hello to him for John from Oklahoma. See more..
  4. 4.5 C&D Canal Museum (39 reviews)
    - Well Done
    Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
    C&D Canal Museum image
While not a large museum, the C&D Canal Museum covers it's subject matter very well. There were two videos to watch and displays that told the history of the canal. We had a teen and tween with us who didn't find it quite as interesting as we did. This museum is easily done in an hour's time. See more..
  5. 4.5 M/V Summer Breeze (26 reviews)
    - FANTASTIC
Sunday: 1:00 PM - 8:30 PM Historical & Heritage Tours • Boat Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Private Tours • Day Trips
    M/V Summer Breeze image
We had a group of 9 people (7 adults/2 children) on board MV Breeze 2-hour evening cruise on 25 September 2021. The owner Steven, super personable, returned all my calls, answering all my questions, and helped me with the booking. We had a memorable time celebrating my mother’s big birthday. The weather couldn’t be better. The captain gave us some history lessons and local knowledge of the areas. The boat was very clean and drinks were great!! Cover charges and drink prices were very reasonable. There were only 2 other couples with us on this public cruise which pretty much felt “private” and we couldn’t complain. If you’re looking for some relaxation with beautiful views with friends/family, this would be it!! We would definitely return the next time we’re in the area. Thank you again Steven and all your staff!! See more..
  6. 4.5 Miss Clare Cruises (22 reviews)
    - Nice activity in Chesapeake City
    Boat Tours
    Miss Clare Cruises image
Other than shopping and dining in this quaint little town, there is a nice museum and the Miss Clare cruises. A lovely and knowledgeable older couple will share a lot of interesting information about the canal. When the boat is out on the canal, it may be unclear where to wait for it, but it's right between the Chesapeake restaurant and the cute little ice cream shop. There is no significant sign but there are a couple of small American flags and brochures that indicate you are in the right place. Relax on the park benches and enjoy the view. See more..

    Belle Connell's Emporium image
Belle's new location on Bohemia is easy to find and full of the usual unusual. Although the current space is about a third of the previous location, there is still plenty of room for art, local items and seasonal gifts. A close walk from restaurants, cafes and other local stores. A must see to find something to take home to remember Chesapeake City. See more..

Ben Cardin C&d Canal Recreation Trail image
The trail runs 17 miles from the Chesapeake to the Delaware River. The pavement is good, and even excellent on a new section near Delaware City where they moved the trail away from the water. One of our favorites anywhere! See more..
  11. 4.0 Chateau Bu-De (57 reviews)
    - A Day To Remember!
    Sunday: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM Spent 2-3 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Chateau Bu-De image
Born out of our love of fine wines and cheeses, Chateau Bu-De vineyard & winery has become the premiere location for fine wines. After traveling the world and sampling different wines, we decided to make our way back to the US and craft the finest wines right here on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Our biggest challenge was finding perfect, high-quality grapes for world class wines. Hence, our vineyard was established. We are dedicated to offering only the finest wines. We have also taken great care in assembling a fabulous team of winemaker's, vintners and employees. Our family-owned & women operated vineyard & winery is located on 440 acres a top the Bohemia River & Scenic Byway 213 in Chesapeake City, Maryland. The original site of Augustine Herrman's historical Bohemia Manor Farm. Augustine Herrman was the founder of Bohemia Manor and the first Lord of the manor. See more..

Today was my first visit but not my last. My husband got the flight of 6 before ordering 2 full glasses of beer. I sampled two and fell in love with the blonde. We stayed for a few hours learning all about the owners and business. We will be back! See more..
