- 4.5 Westover Vineyards (24 reviews)
-Best East Bay Winery We've Visited
Wineries & Vineyards
We passed Westover on the way to Chouinard about a month ago and promised ourselves we'd come back for one of their advertised free wine tastings. Promise yourself the same thing. Right now. They have two options: You can either taste a selection of their reds and whites, or you can taste the same number of their ports, which is their specialty. We went for the standard option, but I'd definitely recommend their ports, even to someone unsure about their feelings towards port. Their wines are great, but the highlight was the people, the service, and the conversation. The location is gorgeous, especially on a beautiful, sunny day like when we were there. We got a bottle of their double chocolate port, which they actually made by accident but has since become deservedly award-winning... And Westover: whenever you bottle that 12-year tawny port, give me a call! See more..
- 4.5 Chouinard Vineyards (2 reviews)
-Great Wine Tasting
Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
We were in the area and wanted to taste some of the local wines. We visited Chouinard Vineyards on a Sunday afternoon and had a great experience. We selected six wines from the offerings for the day and enjoyed each of them. Our pourer was quite informative and charming. While they grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay on their vineyard, they bring in other grapes from local vineyards in Livermore to create their full offering of wines. We left with some of our favorites and would visit again when in the area. See more..

- 4.0 Castro Valley Arts Foundation (2 reviews)
-Wish I could give it five stars
Spent 1-2 hours Concerts • Theaters • Theatre & Performances
The Arts Center is beautiful and the variety of shows offers something for everyone. But they have a continuing problem with the sound volume. Almost every show is much too loud for the size of the venue. Complaints to the management have no effect and they don't seem to notice that much of the audience leaves at intermission. I will not renew my season tickets. See more..

- 3.0 Redwood Canyon Golf Course (14 reviews)
-Fun Public Course
Golf Courses
A fun public golf course. I played Tilden Park recently and these greens are WAY better. Nice people working the pro shop. Excellent price. Fun holes. Tee boxes and fairways are in pretty good/OK shape, but golf courses have been overused since COVID, and there was a pretty big rain storm a couple days ago. I would definitely recommend this course.
