Over the course of a year, the town hosts world class jazz concerts, film festivals, and theater companies. Since 1922, Brattleboro has also been home to the Harris Hill Ski Jump, an annual winter tradition that brings thousands of spectators to the town to watch as some of the world's best athletes tackle the death-defying 90-meter ski jump.

Imagine, in this day with e-books and mail order, a small, independent (and thriving) bookstore dedicated to Mysteries! This is a marvelous gem to be found on Brattleboro's Main Street. The proprietor is friendly, helpful and informative. And he carries the entire collection (all 25 novels) of Vermont author Archer Mayor, whose police procedural novels feature Joe Gunther, a fictional detective stationed in: Brattleboro. As the owner of a vintage Estey Organ, it was a must to get to Brattleboro and visit the museum. The managing director, Philip Stimmel, a very dedicated and enthusiastic musician, took great pains to tell us the history of the company and demonstrated many of the vintage pieces they have from many periods. This old but we’ll maintained bridge is worth a visit! The woodwork structure is beautiful and has a built on walkway (1917). The bridge is no longer actually driven upon and is a great photo op with the stream flowing underneath. We had the pleasure of meeting a couple of the local caretakers of the bridge. Penelope Wurr is a fantastic gift shop. She has loads of items from the U.K., like Maltesers, HP Sauce, Cadbury chocolates, wine gums, marmite, and many others. She carriers beautifully hand crafted jewellery, plates, mugs, unique salt and pepper shakers, funny Lady Bird books, cards, and a wide range of delightful gifts. There is also a nice view of the town from the upstairs window, and a lovely tribute to her Mum. Penelope is an interesting lady to have a chat with as well, very friendly and welcoming.
