  1. 5.0 Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Study Area (13 reviews)
    - Peaceful yet eerie
    Spent 2-3 hours Geologic Formations

We tried to find the Valley of Dreams trail but I don’t think we made it to the right place to get to the trail. We would have had to walk across land and I didn’t know if it was BLM or tribal land so I didn’t want to chance it. We went back to the designated parking area for the study area and accessed the area from there. It is just a sandy lot and then you walk down a dirt path to get to the study area. We used the All Trails app to walk around and see the different named formations. You do have to be mindful of the wind forecast because when you are down into the study area you can’t feel the wind much. When we left we could hardly see to walk with all of the dust flying at us. We were the only people out there so we felt a combination of peacefulness and eerieness! See more..

We planned Bisti over spring break. We planned a hike with navajo tours. You support the local guides and economy. You also understand the wilderness and desolation of Bisti. It was easy to book the tour online and also call over the phone. Kialo, our guide gave us gps coordinates to meet us outside the park. We booked the afternoon tour - it ran from 2:30 pm- 7:30 pm. We saw some beautiful colors over the sunset. Wear hiking boots for climbing over crumbling rocks, light jacket, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses. The dessert wind picks up and you definitely feel it in the eyes. Definitely pack water and snacks. There are restrooms at the entrance but not along the hike. We were about 9 in the group and kep a pace to cover a wide area. We enjoyed our tour. Its hard to find the best spots on your own. Definitely recommend a guide. There are no trail markers. A lot of the spots are hidden. The hoodos, petrified wood, layered colors of the rocks make this an amazing place to visit. See more..

  4. 1.0 Wooden Nickel Bar (1 review)
    - Not worth it
    Bars & Clubs
We had been a year ago and had a blast. Went out on a Saturday and the bartender ruined the whole experience. The band was good, would have been great if their sound equipment was better, and the other people in the bar were fun. The bartender was very indifferent, didnt smile, and abrupt. When making the drink, it was a splash of alcohol and then the mixer. She did not even do a 2 count and most bars do a 4 count. I asked if that was all the alcohol she was going to put in and she said yeah. Then she charged $8. I just wrote it off as a bad/long night, since we did come 15 minutes before then band ended. We went back a week later for a bday party and exactly the same thing happened. Did not stay long and did not drink because of the bartender. Band was great! Go if you have a group and want to hear the band. Dont go if you want a reasonable drink... why pay $8 for a sprite See more..
