   I always wait until the last minute and TRC has bailed me out many times! Whenever my tween needs a gift for a birthday party Sharon's got great ideas (half the time she knows the recipient) either one thing or several smaller things while LISTENING to my tween and then wraps them up beautifully. I was recovering from surgery last summer and decided at the spur of the moment I wasn't going to miss my dear friend's retirement party, she hooked me up with a gift that he and his wife still use and talk about. You can even call her and she'll meet you at the store. Amazing customer service. Added plus!!! The kids like to stop in on their way home from school (anybody remember school)and she not only encourages them, but welcomes them with open arms. What "gift shop" welcomes teenagers and tweens with open arms? TRC is like the "Cheers" of Gift Shoppes. See more..

   The J.M. Stringer Gallery is an outstanding local gallery featuring current artists along with nineteenth & early twentieth century paintings. When we visited the gallery they were showing the recent works of the extremely talented artist John C. Traynor, and sculptures by Cathy Ferrell, as well as a collection of fine antique paintings and furniture. There is parking along the street and in back of the gallery.    Cross Estate Gardens is a beautiful and peaceful oasis away from our crazy lives. My wife and I have visited the garden area twice this week and will be back later this month to witness more flowers and plants bloom. Thanks to those who tend this lovely oasis. See more..

   Today we visited the New Jersey Audobon Society’s Scherman-Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary. I’ve been here before, but this was my wife’s first time. We walked some of the trails to see and photograph the fall colors. The book & gift shop was open and had a wonderful selection of gift items for all ages. See more..

   The church of “St. John on the Mountain” is a lovely Episcopal house of worship located in the hills of Bernardsville. This beautiful older stone church with its magnificent stained glass windows is dated 1907 above the chapel entrance. What makes this church unique is the modern designed interior of the main worship area; a blend of new and old. What brought us here was “The Mountain Art Show” annually hosted by the church in October. The art show features both juried and non-juried works of art from local and nationally known artists. The drive from route 202 to St. John on the Mountain is very scenic, and rather steep & narrow in areas. See more..
