  1. 5.0 Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park (270 reviews)
    - This is a "must do" - family, friends, couples, anyone!
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park image
We love Go Ape adventures and this one truly lived up to our expectations. The cable and trolley system was SO quick and efficient and easy to use compared to prior Go Ape adventures where the trolley didn't stay attached. This made us feel safe the entire time because it was impossible to not "always be attached". The obstacles were fun and the zip lines were awesome. I loved flying across Lums Pond so many times. The entire staff was really great too. My husband and I were the first group to go through it and we FLEW through the course. We were done in under 2 hours, which included the prep and instructions as the beginning. But when we went last summer with our kids and we weren't the first group, it took us over 3 hours. Time definitely varies. See more..

If you love climbing, having a rock gym in the area is definitely a benefit. They offer instruction if you've never climbed too. My husband and I enjoy climbing and it's nice to have a good place to go no matter what the weather. The Rock Gym is clean and well-managed. See more..
  3. 4.5 Santa Claus Lane (16 reviews)
    - Excellent Christmas Display
Spent < 1 hour Scenic Walking Areas
    Santa Claus Lane image
We stop here at least once or twice each holiday season to take in the light display. Each year there is a different theme. This year it was Peanuts. The whole Peanuts gang could be found throughout the yard including Woodstock & Snoopy! Many of the yard decor signs are handmade, which adds character! The home itself is completely covered it a gazillion lights. It really is beautiful. The open garage is decorated too. On special weekends Santa can be found there greeting children. Look for the sign with the dates & times posted at the edge of the driveway. This is where you will also find a donation box should you wish to donate. This activity is FREE. Overall, a great FREE light display to kick off the holiday season. I would recommend and we will be back. See more..
  4. 4.5 Beck's Pond Park (6 reviews)
    - Entertainment from geese and seagulls
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Parks
    Beck's Pond Park image
Beck's Pond, though surrounded by housing, manages to let nature shine in its bright and sparkling blue waters. I was greeted on arrival by entertaining flocks of geese and seagulls. They did not mind the cold weather and flew and swam in all directions. Watching them alone made the visit worthwhile. Of course, for relaxing and recreation, there are several gazebo shaped pavilions for picnics and play equipment for children. There is a boat ramp, again well guarded by the seagulls. See more..
  5. 4.5 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (4 reviews)
    - Inspiring late 20th century architecture
Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
    St. Elizabeth Ann Seton image
Usually, when I look for churches and cathedrals to visit, I think first about those that are a century or two old. In this case, the parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Bear, Delaware, was not even organized until 1978, and the actual church was not completed and consecrated intelligence 1998. Our recent visit to Emmitsburg, Maryland, to see the Basilica and other history associated with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton peaked my curiosity. The church is simple but majestic in its upward curving design. I was fortunate that the church was open and busy on this Saturday, so I could witness firsthand the huge, round, and airy sanctuary where light from clear upper story and stained-glass windows cast beautiful reflections. I talked to the priest who explained that the parish draws on members who come from all over the world, creating a global community right in Delaware. This church addresses oth spiritual as well as artistic sensibilities. See more..
  6. 4.0 Lums Pond State Park (203 reviews)
    - Very nice park
    State Parks
    Lums Pond State Park image
This park is a great place for a quick pit stop or a full day of activities. The pond is scenic and peaceful, never crowded, but never empty either. You can’t swim in the pond, but boating and fishing is allowed. You can also rent kayaks or paddle boats. Outside the pond, there are hiking trails, camping and picnic areas, playgrounds for kids, fields for various sports, and even a disc golf course. Perhaps best of all, there’s even an adventure park! It does cost extra to get into, but it’s awesome, so worth it if you have the time/budget to spare. It has zip lines, a sort of modified bungee jump, tree top obstacle courses... It’s just a ton of fun. See more..
  7. 4.0 Christ The Cornerstone (1 review)
    - Father's Day Car Show
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Christ The Cornerstone image
We stopped by Christ the Cornerstone on Father's Day since they were hosting a FREE classic car show along with several activities for the kids. It was a really nice morning spent. They had a really great turn out for the car show. In addition to the car show, they had a nice photo-op area set up inside the church where Dad could take his photo with the kids and some props. They had free soft pretzels, free sodas/water, free bagged chips, etc. They also had a bounce house for the kids to play in. They even had a lion mascot show up to entertain the kids. It was a really nice free event. Staff/volunteers were all welcoming and friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our visit with Christ the Cornerstone church for the Father's Day Car Show. I look forward to next year's event! See more..
  8. 3.0 Hullabaloo Amusement Center (19 reviews)
    - A clean and fun place for little children
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Amusement & Theme Parks
    Hullabaloo Amusement Center image
After reading negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and clean Hullabaloo is. I have been looking for a place to take my 2 1/2 year old niece to play this winter and I have found it. It is not a very big place which is perfect if you have younger children. We stayed for over 2 hours, so well worth the $8. My only complaint is that there was no supervision for the older children who were running over-top the little ones. We will be going back. 11. 3.0 Fox Run Shopping Center (1 review)
    - Fall Festival & Car Show
    Shopping Malls
    Fox Run Shopping Center image
Fox Run is a shopping complex located on Route 40 in Bear, DE. Here you will find Acme grocery, M&T bank, Thurston's Pub, Riviera Pizza, Concord Pets, Walgreens, Michael Gallagher jewelers, Simon Eye Associates, WSFS bank, Salad Works, KFC, IHOP, Just Fish and Goodwill. These are the mainstays, but you will find a handful of other shops/services/restaurants in there as well. We most recently visted the shopping center for their annual Fall Festival & Car Show. On this day, they set up a car show in the parking lot and a Trick-Or-Treat Treasure Hunt for the kids. Kids get a treasure hunt map at the central tent, walk around to the participating vendors and then return to the tent with their completed map. Along the way they collect stamps and treats from the vendors. Back at the tent, they get to pick out a free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Dietz & Watson and Philly Pretzel were also on location on this day providing free treats: hot dogs and soft pretzels in addition to beverages. Several of the car show participants also had bowls of candy set out for the trick-or-treaters. There were also several children's characters walking around the car show that day for the kids to take pictures with: Abby Cadabby & Cookie Monster in addition to a juggler. Overall, this is just a small shopping complex. It provides your basic needs: banking, food, grocery, pharmacy. I think it is OK. I do like that they offer free community events for the kids from time to time. See more..
  12. 3.0 Sunset Stables (1 review)
    - $5 Pony Rides
    Equestrian Trails
    Sunset Stables image
We have passed by Sunset Stables countless times over the years. I was aware that you could book children's birthday pony parties here, take riding lessons and book riding trail tours. However, this summer during the pandemic, Sunset Stables advertised that they were offering pony rides for $5. We took the kids over and they each rode around the pony corral ONCE for $5 each. Overall, I think the pony ride area is OK. I wish they got a few laps around the corral for the $5. Other pony rides experiences we have done in the past while on vacation included 3 laps around the corral. I understand its the pandemic so they probably wanted to limit contact and time with their staff. I wish it were a little longer in duration as it was almost not worth the drive over to the stable for the few minute rides. We were literally there 7 minutes total. This included paying, riding, switching kids and getting BOTH of the children on/off the ponies. They do offer trail rides for bigger kids that are longer in duration, but not for the little kids. Staff was OK. I didn't find them to be particularly friendly, but kids said their "guide" did talk to them some as they walked around the corral. Also, none of the staff were wearing masks. It's simple: VR is fun, easy and accessible. Unlike conventional gaming, VR offers a new way to play together with your family, friends and your mortal enemies! Most games only require the use of one or two buttons, so if you can flick a light switch while flushing the toilet, you can play VR! See more..
