Alien Run Mountain Bike Trail image
Northwest New Mexico's best mountain bike trail and excellent compared to just about anywhere else. Top quality singletrack and scenery, and remote enough so as to not get much traffic. Best in spring and fall. Very dry; bring lots of water. All beginner to intermediate stuff, but still fun for advanced riders. A must if you're in the area with a bike. See more..
  6. 3.5 Aztec Sandstone Arches (21 reviews)
    - Cox Canyon Arch
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Aztec Sandstone Arches image
We only visited Cox Canyon Arch because the google map was reflecting "Aztec Sandstone Arches" as permanently closed. maybe, maybe not, but since we were had limited time time, we only went to the one we knew we could find. We had the right road but we almost missed the arch. We went too far, turned around and stopped to ask some workers and we just happened to be in the right place. We just didn't see the arch until the worker pointed it out. There are NO SIGNS the way we went. We enjoyed the surrounding area of the arch. We walked to the end of the canyon and got some terrific pictures of the canyon and the arch from a distance. We did not however go right up to the arch. We couldn't find an easy route up and we're a little too old for rock climbing. See more..

  8. 2.5 Aztec Municipal Golf Course (2 reviews)
    - Very Enjoyable Municipal Golf Course
    Spent 2-3 hours Golf Courses
    Aztec Municipal Golf Course image
While traveling to visit Aztec Ruins National Monument, we happened upon the Aztec Municipal golf course, just a few miles south of Aztec, New Mexico. This course was formally known as Hidden Valley golf course. The best feature of this municipal course is the staff. They were friendly, helpful and accommodating; we cannot say enough about how well we were treated here. It is nice to visit a golf course where the staff clearly cares about the experience their customers are having. The course is an 18 hole design that is enjoyable to play. This is not one of theses 7000 yard monster that beat you up, this course is designed for fun. We particularly enjoyed the front side with the four par 5 holes, three par 3's and two par 4's. Don't expect country club course conditions here, but the little town of Aztec, New Mexico does a great job keeping the course up and provides a nice golfing experience here. See more..
