This winery is not one to be missed. We met several friends there for a tasting. We loved the wine, loved the views and the owner was very hospitable and gracious. We had a rather confusing wine order when we were finished with the tasting and the visiting and he handled our orders so easily. I will definitely go again and take more friends. See more..

  7. 5.0 Valley View Orchards (5 reviews)
    - such fun and very painless
    Spent 1-2 hours Farms
    Valley View Orchards image
Pie cherries in my back yard.. who knew? Trying to find things I could do with our 7 year old grandson, and loving pie cherries, I happened upon the happy serendipity that Valley View Orchards had just opened their cherry season. 1st stop the "store" where you pick up your bucket and they tell you where all the cherries are located. The pie cherries need no netting and are absolutely LOADED with beautiful bright cherry-red cherries... perfectly ripe! The trees are fairly loaded, so it is an easy pick. Then off to the Bing and other black cherries... not quite as sweet as I've tasted elsewhere, but again an easy pick. Then back to the store to get weighed. $5.50 for U-pick, and $6.50 for already picked. Bring your own containers to carry your fruit home. WEar covered toe shoes as you are tramping on uneven ground w/ dried grass. Grandson LOVED the experience. I'll certainly be back for their peaches! See more..

    - Great Stop!
    Visitor Centers
    Travel Oregon Welcome Center image
We have driven by a few times since it opened about a year and a half ago but today was our first stop. First of all, the restrooms were clean and well stocked. The visitors center is very nice and we were approached by a friendly woman who explained all the maps and materials are free of charge. They also have the entire thing arranged my regions of Oregon and it was well organized and stocked. We also noticed a sign that said they had stickers, posters and post cards available. We took a look at the stickers and ended up taking home three - again, for no charge. We would definitely recommend stopping by even if it's just for a quick pit stop. See more..

    Downtown Plaza image
Several times a year, I or hubby and I start here by drinking the Lithia Water at the fountains. That mineral taste is so amazing. FEELS healthy. Then we start walking: Web-sters, the Asian fusion place across from Lithia Park, , then a turn to browse the shops and bookstore near Websters. Then across Main to the Chocolate factory, and up to Paddington. It's especially magical in December, with the lights, but a very nice "date" with someone special, with a friend or with yourself. It's the beating center of this little town. See more..

  13. 5.0 Trinity Episcopal Church (2 reviews)
    - I know, sounds weird to rate a church, but....
    Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
Trinity is worthy keeping an eye on even if you are a different faith or none at all. First - their wonderful labyrinth, free to walk, outdoor. Just be courteous, respectful and police your trash. Second, they have events that are open to all and are fun, like the amazingly accurate (tho horribly sexist and out of tune with our times) Elizabethan prayers that they presented as a special event. They also do a lot for the community, in terms of donations and caring (as does my own Unitarian Universalist Fellowship), and if you don';t have your own program, they are happy to have you attend and contribute. Very welcoming and open, non-judging people, authentically Christian if the word means adhering to Jesus' words. Visit the labyrinth. Check for activities in the paper. See more..

  15. 4.5 Lithia Park (1.625 reviews)
    - A cool escape
    Parks
    Lithia Park image
We have been coming to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival for many years, and we always take a walk in the park at least once, sometimes going all the way through to the reservoir, or taking city streets and coming in to the park at the reservoir. It's also a quiet place to carry our take-out when we need some respite from crowds. In 1964 we camped in the park (there was a campground then) and walked through the park to attend the plays. Some times just sitting beside the creek is relief enough. Enjoy it! See more..

    - This is Not Rome
    Libraries
    Ashland Library image
And thank the Gods. This is Ashland, a very cool town with some nice attractions and the library does not disappoint. Although their collection seems small, they are tied to the other libraries in the county which house thousands upon thousands of books. So, you kind find it in their collection but it might not be immediately available. Just put your name on a list ! There is a decent magazine collection, CDs of all kinds of music, and, I think, DVDs although I never checked any out (you might want to confirm they have them first). Very nice customer service. Always felt at home here. See more..

Wow, this place is gorgeous! I found it while looking for a place to dine during our overnight stay in Ashland. The tasting room is very spacious with lots of room to enjoy your tastings. We opted for a tasting on the comfy couches away from the tasting bar and our attendant was very attentive and gave us alot of time describing the wines and the vineyards. We walked around the grounds and enjoyed the beautiful views from outside. This is a not to miss winery, a bit off the beaten path and not advertised much. :) See more..

  25. 4.5 Gathering Glass Studio (16 reviews)
    - Blow your own glass ornament
Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries
    Gathering Glass Studio image
I've always loved blown glass. Gathering Glass produces a lot of commercial glass products, but also holds classes and workshops as well as renting shop time to individuals. My wife bought me an introductory class for Christmas. Keith there did a great job of explaining what we were going to do to create my own ornament and then helping me through the process. His instructions were very clear and helpful and he helped me feel at ease around the intense heat of molten glass. I loved the challenge of doing something very different and the ornament turned out very well. Something completely different to do for those visiting Ashland Shakespeare Festival. Highly recommended. See more..

  28. 4.0 Paschal Winery (59 reviews)
    - Beautiful View, Fun Experience!
    Wineries & Vineyards
    Paschal Winery image
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Paschal Winery. It was a Sunday afternoon with live music playing. The place was packed! We had to wait a bit for service. The wine was nice, but I would say the reason we enjoyed our visit so much was because of the atmosphere... it was just a tasting room full of happy people drinking tasty wine with live music playing. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! See more..
  29. 4.0 Emigrant Lake (55 reviews)
    - Great RV site
Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water
    Emigrant Lake image
Jackson County Oregon is to be commended for this excellent county park. We camped in the RV section which had paved parking sites, full hookups, picnic table & firepit. Two aspects were exceptional: 1. Free, modern, clean, showers and washrooms 2. View of the lake & surrounding countryside. We enjoyed a colourful, beautiful sunset - pinks, blues and purples. Many people boated on the lake and some swam, kayaked & played. Well done Jackson County Parks! See more..
