Just entering the longhouse at the LeLooska Cultural Center feels like taking a step back in time. As an accurate portrayal of historic Pacific NW tribes' costumes, stories, and dances, the LeLooska programs can't be beat. Even in the middle of the day, you'll feel the magic around the fire, listening to the beat of the drum and the hypnotic voice of the storyteller. Chief LeLooska is sorely missed but the program is as brilliant as ever. Each mask is expertly carved, painted, and articulated to bring the stories to life. The button blankets and other costumes are similarly historically accurate and intricately designed and created by talented craftspersons. The dances really make you feel like a member of the tribe, sitting around, enjoying the evening's entertainment while being submerged in history and culture. This is an experience not to be missed.
