My son and I had an amazing time. I am at the upper end of their weight cutoff and was worried about the ability to stop me with the speed I generated. I was very impressed with their set up to slow down and stop me. Was not in the least bit uncomfortable. The views were outstanding and the guides Dillon and Sarah were so much fun. I would definitely go again will be recommending to all my friends. See more..

    Anaconda Historic Bus Tours image
Our family took this tour on June 23, 2022 for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it! Our tour guide was born and raised in Anaconda so he had a wealth of information about the town to share with us all. It was also very cool to be touring around town in a 1936 touring bus that has been restored. Our favorite location that we visited was the Washoe Theater. Everything inside is in it’s original decor from the seating, to the carpet and the curtains. They currently show movies there too. Our second favorite stop was St. Peter Catholic Church, which dates back to 1898. Absolutely beautiful place of worship. I highly recommend this well priced historical tour! See more..

  20. 4.0 Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park (43 reviews)
    - Lives up to all the great art work I’ve seen
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Parks
Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park image
We’ve all seen a lot of artwork showing off the beauty of the Anaconda smoke stack. To be honest I didn’t think the real thing could possibly live up to the hype (Montana’s Mona Lisa anyone?) but we decided to check it out during our visit to the greater Anaconda area. Let me tell you, it is as beautiful and majestic in person as it is on canvas. Truly a sight to behold. Definitely worth a visit and it’s free too! I don’t want to give the fat cats in Helena any ideas, but I’d gladly pay a few bucks to stand in the shadow of the Anaconda smoke stack. Truly one of the greats! See more..

  25. 3.0 Fairmont Hot Springs Resort (110 reviews)
    - Lovely place, not great with Covid precautions
    Sports Complexes
    Fairmont Hot Springs Resort image
I've come to Fairmont since I was a child. I've always enjoyed their clean pools, up to date rooms, and beautiful grounds. It's wonderful that they have maintained a huge duck pond and spacious natural area for animals (llama, sheep, goats) in a time when most resorts develop every square foot of real estate for higher profits. Staff are very nice and they also have a great playground, golf course, and small folf course. For travelers worried about Covid, avoid the waterslide and the weekends. It was dismaying to see dozens of kids packed together in line for the waterslide and the attendant wearing her mask around her chin. Similarly the pools are too full on weekends to be safe. During the week however, it's a beautiful respite and will again be a wonderful place to return once we have past Covid. See more..
  26. 2.5 The Owl Bar (2 reviews)
    - Dive-Bar with Old West Atmosphere & Attitude
    Bars & Clubs
    The Owl Bar image
TOB is located in old Goosetown neighborhood in east Anaconda. Most customers were locals and bikers and dive-bar tourists like us. Interesting signs not only cover the walls but also covered the ceiling. Our bartender was friendly, had the full beard, hippy look and knew interesting info about the Owls history. It's officially the oldest bar in Anaconda since their cross street rival The Sladich bar closed several years back. Supposedly got its name back in the 1880's because it was frequented by ore Smelters that worked the night shifts. No stools back then; you stood at the bar to drink. There was a separate side for women with a bell to signal when a beer was needed? One of his stories was an obvious citified person ordered a martini, so he handed them an olive in a beer; told them it was a Montana martini. Also, the restrooms, while not circa 1880, did look well-used by bar patrons over the decades. See more..
