   This was our first visit to the Portland area, and my sons wanted to play golf as part of our vacation. One son brought his clubs and we needed to rent two sets. The clubs ended up being Taylor Made M4's- a very nice set. Apparently the clubs don't make the golfer because I didn't shoot that well, but the course was in great shape and the people were friendly. A bad day at golf is.......... See more..

   Harvey is less a destination (there's nothing to do), but definitely a local landmark! Once upon a time, a long time ago, Harvey had a human head and was a common, ordinary Texaco Big Friend. There were about 300 Texaco Big Friends, and they marked Texaco gas stations. In October 1962, bad winds damaged the Texaco Big Friend that's now known as Harvey, and he was bought by someone and taken to Harvey Marine for repairs. But then the person who bought the Texaco Big Friend just abandoned him, and after a few years of sitting broken and unclaimed, Harvey Marine's owner, Ed Harvey, decided to give him a makeover -- giving him a rabbit head and reveling Harvey the Rabbit to the world in 1974. Harvey Marine is closed now, but Harvey the Rabbit is still standing tall, and will probably continue to do so in the future, because he's a beloved member of the community in Aloha. See more..
