This zoo was great. We arrived early and were able to see all of the animals. The penguin exhibit was our favorite. It took us about 3 hrs to see the whole zoo. The food and drinks were expensive (as anticipated) but we packed our snacks and splurged on a toy for our son and a local beer. I recommend bringing a water bottle to fill as the have water fountains and a water is $6.00. There is a park in the middle of the zoo that is nice for a place to eat your snacks. Mobile ordering is available and recommended. There is quite a bit of construction going on but there is still a great deal to see. Would definitely come again. See more..

    - Exceptional!
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
    Unser Racing Museum image
A virtual must-see for any motorsports fan and very interesting for others! My wife and I visited the museum again after a few years in honor of the passing of both Al Sr. (12/09/2021) and Bobby (May 2, 2021) this year. Once again, we got to enjoy an extremely interesting, detailed, and well presented history of America's most successful racing family. Secondary displays put the Unser story into context. With 9 wins at the Indy, multiple Pikes Peak triumphs, and success in so many other top motorsports venues, there is an incredible story to be told, and the museum rises to that challenge. As I understand, Al Sr. provided the inspiration for the museum's creation, and his wife Susan applied exceptional organizational skills. Al and Bobby, RIP. See more..

  22. 4.5 La Luz Trail (249 reviews)
    - Strenuous.... and stunning
    Hiking Trails
    La Luz Trail image
Like all the trails rising from the city of Albuquerque to the top of the Sandia Crest, the La Luz trail climbs at a significant rate. You may need to pace yourself if you're coming from sea level. No need to worry, you're not committed; you can just go as far as you can handle and turn around and come back. Have your camera ready; there's a new aspect and a new view around every corner, some up at the mountain, some back out over the desert, and some of just the woods you're in. Beware of ice in the shady spots in the winter months, especially on steep grades where a slip can go very wrong. See more..

    Speciality Museums
    National Hispanic Cultural Center image
I really enjoyed this museum. I went early one morning, as soon as they opened. There were very few visitors. I LOVED it. I was able to take my time, enjoy the exhibits, read the literature, and record videos (in appropriate areas) without having to wait for people to pass by or listen to background noise. I really enjoyed the permanent exhibit and the Adam an Eve one. I loved the car exhibit. I really enjoyed everything I learned about “lowriders” as they relate to the history of New Mexico. The staff was great. The thing about going early is the entire staff is there for you - to answer any questions you may have. It’s like a private showing that you pay a few dollars for. I also really enjoyed the gift shop which has the largest collection of pinatas I have ever seen. See more..

Did a tasting at Gruet this Monday. Highly recommend the experience if you like sparkling wine. 30. 4.0 ABQ BioPark Aquarium (550 reviews)
    - Very small aquarium
    Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Aquariums
    ABQ BioPark Aquarium image
We went through the aquarium in under an hour leaving the kids asking," Where is the rest of it?" What was there was interesting and well-maintained, but for budget-conscious travelers, this is a very pricey way to spend a short amount of time. The aquarium entrance fee does allow you access to the Bugarium, Butterfly Pavillion, and gardens. All three of those are worth a visit! Lots of parking is available, but we were told by security personnel to make sure and hide all belongings and make sure the car is locked. See more..
