   The Issan Rum Distillery is a compact, casual and comfortable place, one can check out, on the outskirts of town, while in and or nearby Nong Khai. I chose to do a brief technical tour of the alcohol manufacturing and storage facilities, before sampling the local product. As a former bar manager (as well as a continuing student of alcoholic beverages ...) myself, I found the short but sweet back story information, provided by the friendly hosts, to be informative and entertaining. I am also glad that I chose to do a 'taste tester' set, 'lakeside' by the small bar overlooking the dam, too. And if you are wondering, how was the sugar cane spirit (?), well I am happy to advise that I did purchase a bottle for takeaway, so yes, I do feel it is a high quality (and quite strong) white rum.    This is a great option for massage. It may be a bit more expensive than the average ordinary massage shop in Nong Khai, but it really is worth it. Still a good value, at 490b for a 2 hour traditional Thai massage. I did not try any of the spa treatments, so I will offer no comment on those. I will say that the place is very clean and comfortable with comfy silk massage pajamas. Quality of the massage was top notch. I've had traditional Thai massages all over Thailand, and this place is high up on my list of excellent massage shops. They have branches in several cities, and I plan to visit Baan Suan when and where I can. See more..
