The Issan Rum Distillery is a compact, casual and comfortable place, one can check out, on the outskirts of town, while in and or nearby Nong Khai. I chose to do a brief technical tour of the alcohol manufacturing and storage facilities, before sampling the local product. As a former bar manager (as well as a continuing student of alcoholic beverages ...) myself, I found the short but sweet back story information, provided by the friendly hosts, to be informative and entertaining. I am also glad that I chose to do a 'taste tester' set, 'lakeside' by the small bar overlooking the dam, too. And if you are wondering, how was the sugar cane spirit (?), well I am happy to advise that I did purchase a bottle for takeaway, so yes, I do feel it is a high quality (and quite strong) white rum. A great little spot (see my YouTube), that I reckon can be positively categorised as another one of the Isaan region's many hidden gems.See more..
