    - Great stopover!
Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Centro Storico Di San Marino image
If you are nearby, the old city of San Marino is definitely worth visiting. The castle area is really charming with narrow old streets. The area is walked around in an hour, so 2-3 hours trip is surely enough. There is parking available, even though the closest ones will be full if you don't arrive in the morning. The farther ones are still just max 10 min walk away from the old city entrance, so won't be bad. See more..

    Piazza della Libertà image
The main square of San Marino and a popular meeting place for both locals and tourists alike. It affords a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. The centre of the square is occupied by a statue depicting freedom on a richly decorated postum. The main building within the square is the neo-Gothic town hall with arcades. The stone houses on the eastern frontage are now home to restaurants and luxury guesthouses. See more..
  5. 4.5 Palazzo Pubblico (654 reviews)
    - The Parliament of the Old Republic in the World
Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Government Buildings
    Palazzo Pubblico image
The “Palazzo Pubblico” is the parliament of the Republic of San Marino. It is faced on Liberty Square, very easy to find it. From outside the architecture is similar to other cities of central Italy, Instead inside it is possible to see the hall, The Chamber of the Grand and General Council and few rooms. Also if inside the palace is not so rich in art, it is very nice with some painting and medieval symbols. I heard that, in general, the changing of the guard is also planned, but I didn’t see it, so I don’t know about this point. See more..
  6. 4.5 Mount Titan (499 reviews)
    - Like a fairy tale
    Mountains
    Mount Titan image
Remember all the children books you've read or cartoons watched where there are castles with big towers on high peaks above the valley? Monte Titano gives the same impression! The three towers are quite distinguishable from far away - you can't mistake them. Prepare for breathtaking views! Tip for people who want to go to all three towers - all are accessible by a pleasant panoramic path, 5-10 minutes walking distance between Guaita and Cesta and 10-15 minutes between Cesta and Montale tower. Montale is privately owned and you can see it only from the outside. See more..
  7. 4.5 Cesta Tower (484 reviews)
    - Beautiful tower with stunning views!
Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Cesta Tower image
This tower is a bit less impressive than the first one (Guaita), but it also has spectacular views and, additionally, - a museum room with medieval weapons. We bought a ticket that includes the visit to both towers. It costs only €6,50 per person which is almost free for such an activity and such views and knowing how much they usually charge in Italy to go up any tower. Don’t skip on towers! They were our favorite part in San Marino! See more..
  8. 4.5 Tourism Office of San Marino (194 reviews)

    Visitor Centers
Tourism Office of San Marino image
The office is located at the main square next to the Cable Car that you can take to the town of Borgo Maggiore. The people who work there are super nice and helpful. We visited San Marino in April and we went there just before they closed , so there was literally no line. They will stamp your passport for Euro 5 cash only. For those of you who collect coins like my husband, you can even get San Marino Euro there. See more..

    Passo Delle Streghe image
This is definitely one of the most beautiful spots in San Marino. The view of the mountain is spectacular and it’s not too hard to walk like some of the other streets. It was a bit difficult to find at first as the map wasn’t working well. Not too crowded especially in the early morning, and the views are amazing before midday. See more..

    Montale Tower image
Well worth the walk to reach, which won’t be difficult for even novice walkers but unfortunately there’s no properly constructed paths for anyone less capable on rough terrain. The views are great, you can feel the history and it’s such a relaxing spot with surprisingly few crowds or groups. One of my favourite spots in the city! See more..

    Museo Della Totura image
Torture Museum of San Marino: "A journey through human cruelty" Few phenomenons kept their essence intact through time as the subject of this exhibit. From the Jock’s Mare or Skull Splitter to the shock treatment or psychiatric drugs, there is always been a long series of new instruments, so it is hard to talk about progress or evolution. Through this appalling journey into the machines used to cause death, public mockery and pain, the exhibit shows horrors that our conscience has repressed but that had been part of human coexistence for many centuries instead. Famous tortures that make us shiver but demonstrate how men applied as much creativity into the field of technology and into finding new ways to inflict pain as into arts and culture. The purpose of the exhibit is practicing our memory, documenting the aberrations of intolerance and zealotry which men achieved in their clear headed delirium to intentionally provoke harm and death. 24. 4.0 Basilica del Santo Marino (563 reviews)
    - The largest and most important church in San Marino
    Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
    Basilica del Santo Marino image
Neoclassical temple, located in the center of San Marino. A basilica dedicated to the patron saint of the city of San Marino. From the outside, a beautiful pediment with columns is striking, while the interior looks ascetic or even modest. However, there is an amazing beauty in this simplicity. Beautiful main altar and side altars. A wonderful temple in its simplicity. See more..

Museo delle Armi Moderne San Marino image
I recommend visiting both the two towers that are open to the public, including this one of course. Entrance fee is really cheap, but I advise to go ahead and get the pass which gets you into a few museums. Sure there are many, many weapons in this museum, though for me it was more about the excellent views you get of the city. Great photo-op! See more..
