Seeing is believing, i just can't find any piece of territory synonymous or comparable to this amazing territory. As Mangla Dam has dried up it was possible to drive from New Mirpur down to the Old Mirpur site. My parents moved to the new city circa 1968 as Mangla Dam was being built. Was a moving experience to see the Old Hindu Temple, which stood above the main Bazaar where my father had a small shop. Bawali, according to my mother, was almost like a public bath where local men used to bathe and partake in gym type activities and wrestling. See more..

Pir Chinasi is located at 9500 feet above sea level. Good quality road takes you from Muzafarabad to Pir Chinasi in 90 minutes. The road is very steep specially at the end. Views from this mountain top are breathtaking. It’s a nice place to visit with small dhabas offering tea and light refreshments, however the place is littered with left over food, food boxes, cans etc that spoils the beauty of this nice resort. Looks like local administration is not interested in keeping the place clean and ensuring anti-littering campaign. Apart from this, it’s a must visit place in Azad Kashmir. See more..

Arang kel is one of the most beautiful meadows in Kashmir . from Kel u have two options - take an army monitored chair lift or trek for 3-4 hours . Chair lift cost us 100 pkr per person for a return ride . Caution - chair lifts stop working at 6 pm ! return on time or make your mind to stay the night there . Place is beautiful but cold calm and windy . a light drizzle is frequent in September. there are restaurants and hotels in Arang kel . You can only visit this shrine from probably October to March when water level of Mangla dam goes down. This shrine situated near old city of Mirpur. Old temple and ruins of old city are quite near to this place. There's off track road and when when water level goes really down you can drive to this place and surrounding areas.
