  1. 5.0 Plage de Luengoni (151 reviews)
    - Whitest sand. Bluest water
    Beaches
    Plage de Luengoni image
We arrived on Lifou on the Diamond Princess. The ship had organised a bit of traditional singing and dancing and there were massages and crafts for sale near buy. However, the highlight of our visit was the time spent the Plage de Luengoni. We jumped in a tourist van driven by the local church minister and he drove us around the island and to this wonderful place. Crystal clear waters and the whitest sand I've ever seen. The best part was there were only about 6 other people on the beach and two of those were from our van. A truly magical place. See more..
  2. 5.0 Falaises De Jokin (12 reviews)
    - Très beau site

    Falaises De Jokin image
See more..
  3. 5.0 Lue Jajinyi Cave (10 reviews)
    - Secret Cave with twist!
Bodies of Water • Caverns & Caves
    Lue Jajinyi Cave image
About a 1km walk from the main beach of Lifou you will find the Lue Jajinyi Cave walk entrance. The locals run this and charge $15AUD per Adult & $10AUD per child. After a 15 minute walk through what looks like the movie Avatar jungle to arrive at the mouth of the cave (which is only as big as a 3 bedroom house). It would be pitch black if the locals had not put a gas run light in there. The amazing thing was inside the cave there was a cliff with a 2 meter drop into the dark waters of a natural swimming hole! My whole family (hubby, myself & 3 kids - 16, 13 & 10) took the plunge & made the jump. It was freezing cold but so refreshing after the walk on a hot dusty road to get there. There is a rope & rock platform where you can climb up & out of the water. My family loved this cave visit & was the highlight for my children. ☺️ See more..

  8. 4.5 Lifou Island (680 reviews)
    - Beautiful island with friendly locals

    Lifou Island image
The best place for hair braiding due to price and quality. Beautiful island with stunning natural attractions and friendly locals. Able to purchase fresh coconut to drink from. Worth the short trek to Notre Dame de Lourdes and Jinek Bay. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been in the world. See more..
  9. 4.5 Yejele Beach (257 reviews)
    - Beautiful beach! A must when stopping here on a cruise ship.
    Beaches
    Yejele Beach image
On our cruise, there weren’t many excursions offered for this port, so we just went to this beach and was not disappointed. So beautiful and enough space to where you don’t feel like everyone is on top of each other. They have local beer and refreshments available for purchase. 10. 4.5 Notre Dame de Lourdes (129 reviews)

The walk is not difficult, but when it’s hot, the walk can seem quite unbearable. But it’s so worth it! Amazing view of the cruise ship! Bring an umbrella to block the sun and a lot of water. To see more, visit my YouTube channel: Morgancita See more..
  11. 4.5 Baie de Jinek (120 reviews)
    - Breathtaking
    Beaches
    Baie de Jinek image
We didn’t snorkel here but just soaked in the beautiful views. If you do want to snorkel, make sure you have cash or else they won’t let you in the water. And they only let a certain amount of people in at a time so get there early. A short walk from the cruise port. Please see my YouTube channel for more information: Morgancita See more..
  12. 4.5 Easo Beach (88 reviews)
    - Lovely
    Beaches
    Easo Beach image
We had a lovely, relaxing time on this very pretty palm-fringed beach on Lifou, an island in New Caledonia in the South Pacific. It was quite a narrow beach and a little busy when we were there, but it didn’t in any way affect our enjoyment. The sea was crystal clear, and hugely inviting. It was hot, but we were able to cool down with ice cold New Caledonia beer bought from a nearby trader. This was all a lovely experience. We’ll always remember Lifou! Perfect! See more..
  13. 4.5 Mouli Bridge (45 reviews)
    - Amazing views from Mouli bridge and fantastic swimming from surrounding beaches
    Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Bridges
    Mouli Bridge image
The bridge is being renovated so there is a construction site at both ends at the moment, but you can still take good pictures. Please remember that it is forbidden to swim in the Lekiny bay (this is the mostly land locked bay on the Southern side of Mouli bridge) and around Fayawa island as this is a traditional fishing reserve. There are plenty of gorgeous swimming spots along the main beach and road all around there so there are plenty of other options anyway. See more..

  19. 4.0 Mare Island (284 reviews)
    - Friendly people and lovely snorkelling
    Islands
    Mare Island image
We stopped at Mare Island as part of a cruise with Carnival Cruises (separate review done on Carnival who I'd recommend you avoid as a cruise provider). From the moment we disembarked the cruise, we were warmly greeted to the island by the local people and were transported to Yejele Beach. The beach was absolutely beautiful and we experienced both lovely swimming and snorkelling. The local people had food available and the satay sticks appeared a popular choice. The only improvement would be better toilet facilities but overall, we enjoyed the beach. We went for a walk around at Tadine and again, found the coastline very pretty - great for photos. Would recommend a stop at this island. See more..
  20. 4.0 Lagoon Safaris (52 reviews)
    - Some of the best diving in New Caledonia
    Scuba & Snorkelling
    Lagoon Safaris image
We've dived in Koumac, Bourail, Ile des Pins and numerous sites from Noumea. Diving with Lagoon Safaris was one of the best experiences. Showed up at 7:30am and everything was well underway. Geared up and on the boat in no time. We did 2 days of double dives and each site was stunning. The healthiest reef I've ever seen. Countless fan corals, swim throughs, sharks, lobster caves, just so much biodiversity. The operation itself was well run. The owner, Lucien, was the boat captain and our divemaster was Patrice. Both of them were professional, were customer-focused, and overall cool guys. Initially it was hard to get them on the phone, but once I started messaging them on facebook it was simple. Their English is not the greatest, but they're already speaking two languages (their local language and French) and having to learn a third language is understandably difficult so just use the translate app if you're having problems. It was a bit hard to find the guide house but we eventually made it. The visit was with the niece of Noël. She was great. Noël told us also a lot about the local culture. The swim in the grotte is amazing. I really recommend. See more..
  22. 4.0 Ave Maris (8 reviews)
    - A Divine Church
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Ave Maris image
We visited via cruise ship the Golden Princess and this island was wonderful, I love the history of it, the locals and the 2 churches are divine. This church was built in 1898 and it was closed due to a public holiday but it is beside a cemetery and caves and is an easy walk from the dock. See more..
  23. 4.0 Les Pleiades Du Sud D’Ouvea (6 reviews)
    - Choose north, not south
    Boat Tours
Les Pleiades Du Sud D’Ouvea image
The guide, Pierre, does not speak English or if he did he made no attempt to communicate with me and did not seem to care that I didn’t understand what was happening what was being said. Kindly there were some other people on the boat trip who were able to translate for me. The snorkelling itself is okay, there was some quite nice coral to be seen and we saw giant clams, small sharks, and a Manta Ray. I was disappointed that we did not go far out to lagoon to some of the distant islands in the chain . Indeed, the first snorkelling spot was actually off the main island of Ouvea and I could’ve gone there myself. The equipment is worn out and tatty. The wetsuits are ripped and torn and there are clasps missing from the uncomfortable snorkel gear. I think that the m northern boat trip might be a better option but I didn’t experience that. 28. 4.0 Eglise de Mouli (1 review)
    - Eglise de Mouli à Ouvéa , Du style Kanak traditionnel !
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
