   Architecturally, the monument itself does not stand out, but the meaning of the monument is special. The Candle of Gratitude Monument pays homage to Moldovian language, culture and tradition and the people (many of whom were unsung heroes) who work hard to preserve these.    I'd say this is not very interesting for general public. As a geodesy ing. I always stop at this kind of significant monuments to the profession. After explaining to my fellow traveler what we are looking at he seemed to think this is cool, but if you do not know what it is all about, I'am not sure there will be much excitement. If you happen to pass this landmark (if you go to Rudi monastery, it on the way, right before you turn to Rudi), note it is in the middle of the big apple plantation. And if you are there in september, it is ok to grab an apple or two for yourself. and hey are really delicious. See more..

   Starting from September 2021, the Soroca fortress is closed for public due to some extensive renovation works. Not sure when it would be opened again bust most probably not in 2021. However, we were lucky to be allowed to visit it. The fortress inner space is quite small and there is not much to see inside. There are stairs to get to the upper level, walk around and enjoy some nice views over the Dniester (Nistru) river, over Ukraine and the Soroca city. The fortress has been nicely restored and it is an interesting place for those passionate by history. See more..

   Nice monastary in a 90 acres forrest area, which is a Unesco world heritage site. It has 2 churches and 2 fortresses and a waterspring that suppostly has healing power. There are special clothing rules for ladies, but clothing will be provided if nessecery. In Rudi town there is a 100m long cave that is also interesting. The road from Soroca to Rudi is challeging and I had to zigzag across it to avoid big holes. +/- 50 minutes from Soroca by car. See more..
