  1. 5.0 La Fortaleza (29 reviews)
    - THE BEST EXPERIENCE IN TEQUILA TOUR
    Spent 2-3 hours Distilleries
    La Fortaleza image
the whole experience was fantastic! we had the chance to take 3 tours starting with La Fortaleza, followed by Cuervo Velada and ending with Orendain. La Fortaleza distillery is handcrafted and it is one of the best tequila I ever tried. We were a party of 14, and all of us agreed it was the best. Is original name is Tequila Abuelo but due to some legal issues with Rum Abuelo, they had to create a new name for their tequila outside Mexico. The only thing is that you need to contact them thru email. See more..

Parroquia Santiago Apostol image
We visited this 1649 Parish church and the plaza area, a focal point of this small town’s designation as a UNESCO site. The single nave interior is beautiful with the blue and yellow accents and the colors of the multi wood parquet floors. It’s a quiet haven in an otherwise congested town overflowing with tourists. Parking was not a problem just 4 blocks from the church or follow one of the many men holding the ‘E’ signs for closer pay parking. See more..

    Plaza Principal Tequila Jalisco image
The town square of Tequila. A great place to hang out. We saw the Flying Dancers (Voladores de Papantala) perform right in front of the square, it was truly a sight to behold. They have a lot of small stores outside where I highly recommend that you try the Cantarito (tequila cocktail) and the corn vendors. Other interesting local drinks to try include (Anejo, Carajillo, Cahronegro, Paloma, Vampiro and Michelada). They have a monument with TEQUILA written, where you can get some great photos. A must do place if you are in the Guadalajara/Jalisco region. It is a designated “Pueblos Magicos” - which translates to "magic towns". See more..

Museo Los Abuelos Familia Sauza image
It opened its doors in 1985, with the aim of making known the origins of tequila and the history of the Sauza family, who for three generations, from 1873 to 1985, devoted themselves to the production and promotion of this drink. The building that houses it dates from 1820 and since then belongs to the Sauza family; It was built as a house-room and over the years it functioned as an educational center and house of culture, sponsored by Mr. Francisco Javier Sauza. Among the numerous objects and pieces of art exhibited, there is a mural by the master Gabriel Flores, allusive to the development and evolution of tequila, from pre-Hispanic times to the present; all the recognitions granted to the Sauza Tequila from 1873 to 1987, such as the Gold Cup of Good French Taste; paintings by Guillermo Chávez Vega; a rustic kitchen; agricultural implements; memories of the television program Noches Tapatías; photographs of the town of Tequila; archaeological pieces of the region See more..

    Spent 1-2 hours Distilleries
    Destiladora Rubio image
We came to Tequilla via a 10 passenger van from Nuevo Vallarta / Bucherias area. We benefited from having a very fun group as well as our tour guide providing info as well last the Rubio Tour Guide. We had a short tour of the town and then proceeded to the factory for a tour and then the first tasting. The process isn't that complicated so the tour doesn't take too long. The tasting consists of a small sample of the four kinds of Tequilla that they make and then off to the gift shop. Gift shop prices are very reasonable - a baseball cap was $80 pesos. We then returned to town for some more Tequilla tasting... See more..
