I rented an ATV in San Sébastien del Oeste with a tour guide and he led us up the mountain on a crazy dirt road..there were cars and trucks on road too..but it was crazy bumpy especially as we neared the top. A short hike after we parked led to a perfect spectacular view of the Sierra Madre Occidentals! See more..

Hacienda Don Lalin Raicilla Distillery. image
This is one of those places that you hesitate to review because you would like to have it all to yourself. All the food is made to order. Special diets are not a problem; the food will be gladly adjusted to your dietary requirements. I wish I could return at least once a week. My greatest regret is that my party was leaving before I was unable to purchase some of his raicilla tequila. See more..

    Jardin Botanico Haraveri image
I was one of the lucky people who joined the Vallarta Botanical Garden's Jalisco Cloud Forest Tour & Culinary Adventure to this amazing place. After a comfortable ride a couple hours from Puerto Vallarta, we met the staff and botanist for this unique property. The grounds were beautiful, the cloud forest was very interesting. We hiked through the property with a knowledgeable botanist and saw many unusual species of plants, plus I saw a tree fern (I had wanted to see one, as they only grow in very specific areas of the world). After craft beer and Raicilla tasting, both produced on site, we were served a gourmet meal in this magical setting. A day to remember forever. See more..
  9. 4.5 Hacienda Matel Day Tour (43 reviews)
    - A WONDERFUL WAY TO SPEND A DAY!!!

    Hacienda Matel Day Tour image
It was our first ever trip to Puerto Vallarta and we wanted to take a couple of day trips. We booked the tour through the tour office at our hotel. Gustavo was our tour guide who arrived promptly at the Senor Frogs parking lot. The small van is very "distinctive" to say the least and was clean and cool. There was a total of 8 guests on the tour. Other reviewers have laid out the itinerary so I won't duplicate other than to say it was a full, interesting and satisfying tour, well worth the time and the money. The lunch that was provided was the best authentic Mexican food we had over our two week vacation. The guacamole was the very best I have very had. Our guide, Gustavo was excellent and very personable. His knowledge was second to none and he was entertaining and funny (and a good driver!!!). Highly recommend this tour and we would do it again it was so educational and enjoyable. And the very personal tour and interaction with Gustavo made it over the top. See more..

We stumbled upon this place as we were walking around this cute little town. It's tiny but packs in quite the experience! The cocktails were absolutely delicious! We were only in town two days but we had to go twice because they were so good. They also have super cute antique-style souvenirs for sale that you can get to display your shot glasses and the unique Ricilla cocktail mixes that they make onsite! See more..

    - Plaza Publica was Alive With People and Tradition....

    Plaza Publica image
On our first visit to Puerto Vallarta and Jalisco, Mexico, my wife and I took a full day tour up to San Sebastian del Oeste. The ride up to San Sebastian was long and adventurous. Upon arrival we were given some "free time" by our tour guide after lunch to check out the town. The Plaza Publica or the main square was full of people as the day we visited it was September 16, Mexico's Independence Day. People were everywhere enjoying food, music, drink and of course just a great place to celebrate. There were also lots of off road bikers who were back from the mountain trails relaxing enjoying lunch and some rest. Probably 150 or more motorcycles were all around the Plaza along with other assorted off road ATV's... It was fun experiencing a true Mexican tradition in a real old traditional Mexican town... 15. 4.0 Iglesia de San Sebastian Martir (7 reviews)
    - Old Spanish church with lots of History.
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Iglesia de San Sebastian Martir image
The original Iglesias de San Sebastian Martir was constructed in 1608, and with its old bell tower and gray exterior walls, it’s not much to look at on the outside. But inside is very different, with its Corinthian columns and vaulted ceiling covered in lovely frescos, its pure Colonial Spanish style Baroque. There are many statues and paintings scattered around the church, there is also a model of Jesus in a glass box, and high up in the air above the main nave are pretty crystal Chandeliers hanging. There is a small side chapel with a painting of John the Baptist, baptizing Jesus, hanging on the wall behind the Font. To enter the church is free, but to visit the small museum next door there is a small fee. TIP: if you are making a trip to or from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta, San Sebastián del Oeste it’s a good place to make a stop. Please If you found this review informative, could you check the box below as I am trying to set a record. Thank you. See more..

SAN SEBASTIAN DEL OESTE: Treasure of the Western Birds image
We traveled by van to San Sebastian of the West with PV Transfer. This historic village thrives with artisans making jewelry, blankets, coffee, baked goods, liquor, candy, and tasty meals. We had tour guides who were exceptional and blended history lessons with many stories about life today in the Sierra Madres. The 400+ year old church is stunning. We were lucky to have Abraham Gomez, the owner of PV Transfer, with us as well as our tour guide Mario. Both kept us comfortable during the day trip, engaged with what we were seeing, and answering our questions as quickly as the four of us threw them out. We highly recommend PV Transfer for all your transportation needs while in PV. See more..

Casa Museo Dona Conchita Encarnacion image
We visited the Casa Museo Dona Conchita Encarnacion as part of the Vallarta Adventures tour. This small family run museum shows the history of the Encarnación family. With a fascinating collection of objects from 1750, that are items for personal use, family photographs, baptism badges with more than 150 years – which their owners say were used until recently by the sixth generation See more..
