The Case de La Morena ws built in 1855 as a 'farm house' for a very rich mna, General Francisco Velarde, known as the "Golden Burro" (El Burro de Oro) because he was so wealthy. The murals were done by the Jalisco painter Gerardo Suarez, based on lithographs by Casimiro Castro, published in 1855. They show the life of the upper classes, and of ordinary Mexicns of tht era. this is the best collection of such are anywhere in Mexico. See more..
