Rancho San Francisco is a private estate adjacent to the Chapala Golf and Country Club. We offer 1-2 hour guided trail rides on country roads or mountain trails which we tailor to your ability and experience. Helmets provided. The ranch has many farm animals for kids to pet and feed: horses, donkeys, guineapigs, peacocks, rabbits, hens and pollitos, fresh eggs, humming birds, doves, songbirds, ducks, dogs and cats, a tame squirrel and even iguanas!! Cross a hanging bridge, have a campfire in a petrified wood forrest grotto. View the lake and mountains from the pavilion, a picnic area and bar for up to 25 people. With special request we can have croquet and bocce ball on our picnic lawn! Arrangements can be made ahead for a BBQ. This venue is great for weddings! 4. 5.0 The Naked Stage (1 review)
    - You want them wearing clothes!
    Theaters
With all due respect to the performers, you do not want them naked. They, like me, are up in years and you don't want to see them naked. So what is "The Naked Stage?" No sets. No backgrounds. Just stools for the performers to sit on and then read the plays. And so, they are performing "naked," without all the accoutrements one might normally find in the theater. But it is the vocal inflections and performances by the actors that give the shows so much character. The first performance we saw was, as many of them are, a comedy about women in a nursing home. I hated the lead actress! No, I didn't hate HER. I hated the character she did such a good job portraying. We have greatly enjoyed every show we have seen there and unlike Lakeside Little Theater, Naked Stage has performances throughout the summer as well. Seating is limited and reservations are suggested. Their Facebook page has the names of upcoming shows listed. See more..
  5. 4.5 Lake Chapala (1.107 reviews)
    - Great trip to the lake
    Bodies of Water
    Lake Chapala image
This volcanic crater lake is Mexico’s largest lake and is loved for its wealth of outdoor activities, especially its public balnearios (thermal pools). Go kayaking, have a picinic, or even take a boat ride to Mezcala or Alacranes, one of the islands within the lake. In the evening, head to Chapala’s Malecón to catch the breathtaking sunset. The nearby Ajijic is also a good spot for foodies who want to sample delicious Mexican-Asian fusion, Spanish cuisine, or even pizza. If you’re on a tour of Guadalajara, Lake Chapala is typically included in the itinerary and makes for a great day trip destination. – Tripadvisor See more..

    Malecón de Chapala image
I've been coming to Lake Chapala for years and I've watched the transformation of this malecon. The city of Chapala is always improving it. The first thing I do when I get to Chapala is take a walk on this beautiful boardwalk. It has everything you'd expect: flowers, walkways out into the lake, lots of benches, restaurants, a children's playground, statues, incredible tile work.... See more..
