  1. 5.0 Lava Show (1.084 reviews) from $46.00
    - mindblowing!
    Saturday: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Theatre & Performances
    Lava Show image
The only live lava show in the world! We recreate a volcano eruption by melting real lava up to 1100°C (2000°F) and then pouring it into a showroom full of people. The only show in the world where you can safely experience red-hot lava in close proximity, see it flowing, hear it sizzling, and feel the intense heat that radiates from it. A must-do experience unlike anything else you've ever tried. Now in two locations, in Reykjavik and in Vík, on the South Coast. See more..
  2. 5.0 Katlatrack Adventure Tours (786 reviews)
    - One of a kind experience

    Katlatrack Adventure Tours image
I highly recommend visiting the Katla Ice Cave and supporting the local Katlatrack Adventure Tours. This was a really cool experience that is different from anything we've ever done. It's sad to think this Glacier may be gone in a few years. We were able to walk through 3 "caves" (crossing several crevices). The one piece of advice I'd give is to go with the FastTrack tour. I labored over the decision and we ended up paying a premium for the full "Katla Ice Cave Tour". We did walk around (not on) the glacier for a bit longer, but the guide even admitted that we weren't outfitted to really do much more of a glacier walk (which is what I really wanted). The only real benefit was that not many other operators were there at our time (11:00AM) and there were a ton of super jeeps heading in for the 2:00 tours. See more..
  3. 5.0 EyjaTours (715 reviews)
    - A Must Do Tour in Vestmannaeyer
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Historical & Heritage Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Bus Tours • Day Trips
    EyjaTours image
Best way to see the most in Vestmannaeyer. The weather was rough for the ferry for the day we booked, and they were happy to move our reservation to the following day. It’s good to build in flexibility if possible. Ebbi was a terrific tour guide. Always best to tour with a true local and with a small group. Couldn’t believe how much we saw in a 2-hr tour. The meeting place is a short walk from the ferry dock. Suggest you do Eyja Tours first, then venture on your own. If you plan to go to Eldheimar museum, which I highly recommend, you could ask to be let off at the museum on the way back into town to avoid an uphill walk. If the weather is kind, or even if not, this is one of the most beautiful places on earth. See more..
  4. 5.0 Snorkeling Trips to Silfra (686 reviews)
    - What a great experience!
    Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Multi-day Tours • Scuba & Snorkelling • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Water Sports • Day Trips
    Snorkeling Trips to Silfra image
We started the trip a bit nervous, snorkling in cold water in winter time is not an every day activity. But upon arrival guide David took away our doubts, with a quick joke and clear instructions. The snorkling itself is amazing, the water is clear and deep, the environment quiet. The dry suit and undergarment protect you against the cold, so you can fully concentrate on the underwater spectacle. See more..
  5. 5.0 Midgard Adventure (528 reviews)
    - Trek to Grænihryggur
    4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Ski & Snow Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Midgard Adventure image
My and my wife went for a weekend tour to Grænihryggur with Midgard Adventures. It included bus trip to and from Midgard Base Camp and accommodation before and after the trip, breakfast included. It also included guidance throughout the hike and burgers and drinks in Landmannalaugar after the hike. The landscape up there is quite phenomenal, as can be expected, and can be seen in pictures from the area. The biggest surprise was the people at Midgard, a family run company with the perfect blend of professionalism and laid-back attitude. I can not recommend them highly enough! See more..
  6. 5.0 Icelandic HorseWorld (452 reviews)
    - Fantastic "Under the Volcano" day ride
    Horseback Riding Tours
    Icelandic HorseWorld image
"Under the Volcano" day ride Visited in July 2021 for a day ride as an experienced rider and had a lovely time. My horse Bassi was very sweet and responsive, with easy and comfortable tölt. The path along the river offered beautiful views out over the countryside and to the volcanoes and glaciers in the distance. My ride was led by Annika, who was very friendly and knowledgable. The stable and equipment all looked well maintained, and the horses are clearly well cared for and loved. Definitely recommend! See more..

    - You'll have an amazing time!

Iceland Activities - Day Tours image
I cannot speak more highly of Úlli and his family. They took amazingly good care of us! They provided hiking poles for those who wanted them, bike helmets when we were hiking a stream and likely to hit our heads, extra layers, including waterproof ones. They even brought extra ones along so we could swap out our damp things for dry ones on the day it rained. A few in our group had gluten issues - they provided gluten free meals for us. And when on one of our days it became apparent that some in the group were happy to go hiking in the mountains all day but others wanted a more relaxing day of vacation, they split the group in two to accommodate both sets of needs. Hire these guys - you won't be sorry! See more..

    Ribsafari image
This was one of the highlights of my trip! Stunning views and a fun ride. The guide was very knowladgeable and the sailor was impressively skilled. I never once felt scared or in danger while there. We were on the one hour trip and plan on going to one of the longer trips when we come to Westman islands again soo much fun! Truly recommend if you have spare time, want to take pictures, or are an adreniline junkie or simply looking for something to do! See more..
  9. 5.0 Solhestar (393 reviews)
    - AN ABSOLUTE MUST DO WHEN IN ICELAND
    Horseback Riding Tours
    Solhestar image
My and my friend booked the trip and I was a little scared as I never rode before. We got picked up from our hotel by 2 lovely guides- Danish ladies, which was helpful as we didn't need to worry about transportation and could enjoy the whole experience. Once we arrived we received protective gear and they helped up getting on the horses and gave us instructions. The horses were absolutely amazing! My little Biggie was such a sweetheart and even though I never done it before I felt safe and enjoyed the beautiful tril. Both guides were extremely helpful and kept checking on us to ensure we are ok and we even stopped for pictures. It was an over 2 hours trip and I was absolutely frozen and never felt such cold in my life but all worth it ! On return we got to spend some more time with the horses and received hot beverages to warm up. Overall the experience is worth the money and it's just gotta be done ! See more..
  10. 5.0 Bruarfoss Waterfall (392 reviews)
    - Surprising little falls
    Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
    Bruarfoss Waterfall image
This fall was on of my favorite even tho it’s smallish. The unique horseshoe shape and the amazing color were impressive. There were only a handful of other groups there, probably because of the little hike required. I don’t think we parked in the right area because because others came from a difference direction. Google maps took us down a dirt road and told us to drive a hiking trail lol. We parked along the dirt road and took our chance on the unmarked hiking trail. It was a 30-40 hike and we have to walk over slipper boulders in a stream (both of us got wet). Definitely worth the effort. See more..
  11. 5.0 Riding Tours South Iceland (370 reviews)
    - If you do nothing else in Iceland, do this!
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
    Riding Tours South Iceland image
This is the best horse riding I have ever had on a borrowed horse. If you ride, but have never ridden an Icelandic you must try it, and no-where I’ve been has matched Riding Tours South Iceland. The horses are in beautiful condition, and my mount was very light, willing and easy to ride. The Icelandic saddle was comfortable and very secure. I was loaned a warm waterproof overall. The scenery was spectacular. But the icing on the cake was the Tolt, the gait that is unique to the Icelandic horse that is a very fast and comfortable walk that covers the ground effortlessly. My next horse will definitely be an Icelandic! I only did a 1 hour tour, but still saw some wonderful scenery. I strongly recommend you book by phone and be honest with your experience so they can match you to a suitable horse. Whenever possible they keep groups separate. I was lucky enough to have 1 to 1. Southcoast Adventure image
We had a fabulous day with Erla. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a full walking day in Landmannalaugar together with some great extra sights on the way in and out. The day was deliberately long, and well paced, and we felt we had an amazing full experience. The vehicle used was very comfortable and Erla’s knowledge, humour and skill made the day perfect. 13. 5.0 Gljufrabui Waterfalls (291 reviews)
    - An unique waterfall
    Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
    Gljufrabui Waterfalls image
Another very unique waterfall located just by the famous seljalandsfoss. Just a 500m walk from there. This waterfall cannot be seen from the outside. It falls inside a cave and you need go inside to see the waterfall. You will get so wet by the splashing water. So wear a rain coat or something waterproof. See more..
  14. 5.0 Laugavegur (290 reviews)
    - Best long distance hike so far
    Hiking Trails
    Laugavegur image
The Laugavegur trail has been a tremendous experience for me. Especially the first two days and the area around Landmannalaugar are of an outworldly beauty. The vulcanic landscape is a beauty to behold and the scenic views on day two belong to the best views I have ever seen. The unpredictable Icelandic weather needs to be taken into account however. At the peaks the icy wind can be quite cold and sudden showers are to be expected during the hikes. Besides the regular trail it's highly recommended to do some extra hikes in the evening such as the hike towards the magnificent Markarfljótsgljúfur Canyon around Emstrur. See more..

    Landmannalaugar image
One of the best things to do in Iceland (and there are lot of good things to do there).. Astonishing views. We recommend taking TREX bus in Hella early in the morning (book in advance) and take the last one in return That allows you to stay there 7-8 hours. Then you have time to climb both, blue and pink mountains and having a bath in the most amazing hot spring in the world. See more..

  18. 5.0 Zipline (215 reviews)
    - Fun for the family
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
    Zipline image
What a fun zipline adventure! 4 of us in our family, ages 8, 45, 67 and 67! We could all do it. There is some hiking involved, make sure you are sure footed and can climb a couple steps in mud. The ziplines over the canyon and waterfall were beautiful. The vet end had a "surprise " jump. My 8 year old loved the adrenaline rush, they let him do it again, which was unexpected and very kind since we know not everyone can do it again. Then our tour ended very early and Sammi drove us to show his favorite view in the area. The 3 person crew was very nice and professional, recommend! See more..

  20. 4.5 Strokkur (4.992 reviews)
    - Not something you see every day
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Hot Springs & Geysers
    Strokkur image
Strokkur was a great stop-off on our day-trip drive around Icelands Golden Circle. It can get busy but we were lucky enough to be there with only one coach party. Entrance is free of charge and your first sight of an erupting geyser is amazing. You need to be patient and get your timing right to get a good photo (approximately every 10 mins)...or just put your video on record then stand and wait. Cafe and gift shop are quite big and offer a variety of really good quality souveniers and Christmas decorations. Since you don't see an erupting geyser every day, it's worth making the effort to visit this. See more..
  21. 4.5 Black Sand Beach (4.087 reviews)
    - Beautiful - but watch out for the sneaker waves
    Beaches
    Black Sand Beach image
This beach really is quite something. The black sand is so cool and the rock formations are so different and interesting. The waves are epic but really quite terrifying and I was really surprised to see how many people were much to close despite all of the warnings about how dangerous they are. At least one person dies here a year - so please listen to the warnings and enjoy from a safe distance away. Don’t be the tool trying to get that picture. There is also a really nice cafe here where we stopped for lunch for some chips and drinks. See more..
  22. 4.5 Thingvellir National Park (4.072 reviews)
    - Simply stunning
    Spent 1-2 hours National Parks
    Thingvellir National Park image
Iceland's first national park is not just a great spot for outdoor lovers but also history buffs—it's one of the top highlights along the Golden Circle and also where Iceland's parliament was formed back in 930 A.D. The park sits atop the Mid-Atlantic Ridge that separates the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. You can go on a snorkeling or diving tour in the crystal-clear waters of the Silfra rift—the only place in the world where you can swim between two continents. The best time to visit is during summer when the weather is mild and the days are longer. – Tripadvisor See more..

  24. 4.5 Skogafoss (3.999 reviews)
    - Another Gorgeous Icelandic Waterfall
    Waterfalls
    Skogafoss image
My husband and I visited Skogafoss as we made our way along the southern coast. The waterfall is so powerful and beautiful, and you're able to get right up to it from underneath and can walk up to see the top as well. The parking lot is only a short walk away. Make sure to bring waterproof clothes, as you get very wet if you walk close on the bottom. It can get pretty busy so early morning is a good time to visit if you want fewer people around. See more..
  25. 4.5 Seljalandsfoss (2.925 reviews)
    - Walk behind the waterfall
    Waterfalls
    Seljalandsfoss image
Found just off the Ring Road, Seljalandsfoss is a majestic 200-feet waterfall. You can even walk behind it—the closest you can get to experiencing the full force of the waterfall. Surrounded by green hills and volcanic rock, Seljalandsfoss is a popular spot for photography, and during the summer months you can spot its mist from quite a distance away. Gljufrabui Waterfall is a short hike away, a hidden waterfall that you’ll have to wade through a shallow stream to reach. Wear good shoes and a waterproof jacket as the falls can be slippery and wet. For fewer crowds, visit early in the morning or just before sunset. – Tripadvisor See more..
  26. 4.5 Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin (2.243 reviews) from $24.71
    - Beautiful place
    Spent 1-2 hours Spas
Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin image
The Secret Lagoon natural pool is located in the village of Fludir in the Golden Circle area. The historical surroundings have been kept natural and simple for a unique and authentic experience. The pool is surrounded by several hot springs, including a little geyser, providing the pool with fresh warm water, maintaining a temperature of 38-40 °C throughout the year. In the winter the northern lights can often be seen in the area and what better way to experience the light show than relaxing in the warm water surrounded by the steam from the earth? The Lagoon offers brand new facilities next the hot spring with showers, bar and eating area. Food is not served daily but can be arranged for groups when arranged in advance. Feel free to contact the staff for any inquiries or for a group deal. See more..
  27. 4.5 Strokkur (2.162 reviews)
    - Great but so busy!
    Geologic Formations
    Strokkur image
The coaches upon coaches of tourists sort of ruin this place. The car park is heaving with huge buses blocking roads. The paths through the area are so crowded however it is kind of expected for this location. I recommend trying to go as early as possible in the day to avoid the groups. There is a visitor centre you can visit if you wanted to grab something to eat however we avoided due to prices! Parking is free which is good. There is one large Geysir that erupts very frequently, a sight to see for sure! See more..
  28. 4.5 Reynisfjara Beach (2.039 reviews)
    - A little busy, but very beautiful!
    Beaches
    Reynisfjara Beach image
This stunning black sand beach along the South Coast of Iceland is located beside the small fishing village of Vik i Myrdal. It's known for its dramatic natural landscapes: hexagonal basalt columns, the Halsanefshellir Sea Cave, and large rock formations that rise out of the sea. But be careful when visiting though—the spot is prone to sneaker waves that can crash ashore unexpectedly. Try to keep a safe distance of at least 100 feet from the shoreline, and avoid turning your back towards the waves. This spot is often included as a stop on a full-day tour of the South Coast. – Tripadvisor See more..
  29. 4.5 Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths (2.036 reviews)
    - Worth the experience!
    Saturday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spas
    Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths image
Laugarvatn Fontana is composed of a series of interconnected baths and steam rooms that complement each other to create a healthy, natural and unique spa experience.Three steam rooms, collectively called GUFAN, have been built over a natural hot spring that has been used since 1929. The temperature of the steam varies depending on the temperature of the hot spring and weather, usually between 40°C (104°F) and 50°C (122°F). Humidity is very high in the steam room cabins. Grids in the floor of the steam rooms allow guests to hear and smell the boiling natural hot spring underneath, creating a natural and totally unique experience. Next to the steam room is YLUR, a Finnish-style sauna. The temperature is between 80°C (176°F) and 90°C (194°F), with a lower humidity than the steam room having a big window facing the lake of Laugarvatn. LAUGA, SÆLA, and VISKA are interconnected outdoor mineral baths that vary in depth, size and temperature. Some areas are suitable for relaxation and others offer space for movement and playfull moments. Stone artwork made by Icelandic artist, Erla Thórarinsdóttir, enhance each visitor’s experience. VISKA, the hot tub, is built at a slightly higher level than the other baths, providing a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings while the healthy water nourishes both body and soul.Completing the ensemble are VATNIÐ and STRÖNDIN — the lake and the beach. Visitors will reach VATNIÐ through a gate. STRÖNDIN has warm black sand, which has been shown to be beneficial for those suffering from arthritis and other joint illnesses. VATNIÐ provides an opportunity to cool down between visits to GUFAN and YLUR, a temperature shift that is both healthy and strengthening See more..
