    Angeli Reindeer Farm image
We had such a lovely, interesting & cultural 2-hour visit to Angeli Reindeer Farm in January 2023. Our trip was part of a package organised by our Hotel, there were just 6 of us on the visit & it felt very personal. Anne was very welcoming, spoke excellent English, Finish & Sami & was so knowledgable. We were able to feed some of the reindeer & see them in their natural habitat. Not only did she tell us about the reindeer, herding & how they live, but also a lot about the local nature, the area and Sami culture. It was very thought-provoking. We were welcomed into her home for a hot drink & discussed some more about the local culture, shown traditional boots, pouches & other handicrafts she had cleverly made also. I would highly recommend visiting, thank you for your hospitality Anne & family. See more..

  9. 5.0 Jäniskoski Rapids (1 review)
    - Easily accessible but very beautiful rapids
    Waterfalls
    Jäniskoski Rapids image
Jäniskoski Rapids and Ritakoski Rapids are the most beautiful rapids in Inari, I think. Jäniskoski Rapids are easily accessible. Just drive to the parking place of Kittilä Road (address Kittiläntie 156) and walk a couple of hundred meters. The trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, too. There is also an accessible suspension bridge over River Juutua (Juutuanjoki) and Jäniskoski Rapids. We didn't drive to Jäniskoski Rapids. They are situated along the circle hiking trail named Juutua Trail (Juutuan polku). We walked along Juutua Trail from the center of Inari (Tradition Hotel Kultahovi). The total length of Juutua Trail is 5.8 kilometers but we chose the more challenging side path from Jäniskoski Rapids to Otsamo Fell. View was absolutely stunning there. Read separate Tripadvisor reviews about Otsamo Fell. Jäniskoski Rapids are a very nice place to relax. It is wonderful to watch and listen to the rapids. There is also a good campfire site next to the rapids. View is very beautiful from there, too. The Finnish word jänis means a hare and koski means rapids. So literally the name is Hare Rapids. It is because the crests of whitewater are like hares running around in the dark. See more..

  14. 4.5 Lake Inari (103 reviews)
    - A gorgeous destination in Lapland
    Bodies of Water
    Lake Inari image
If you're looking for a beautiful and peaceful destination for kayaking/boating/fishing in Lapland look no further. There are over 3000 islands in this huge lake and most of them are totally uninhabited. There are many free well equipped camping areas to choose from. You can sleep in the wilderness cabins but it's better to have you own tent too. The lake is also great for fishing and with some effort it is possible to eat fresh fish every night. There's also a cool ice cave on the island called "Korkia Maura". The icy floor of the cave has been frozen for over 500 years. This cave alone is a sight worth visiting. Just remember that this lake can turn it's beautiful mirror surface into a sea of rough dwelling waves in no time. See more..

Saint Tryphon Pechenga Orthodox Church image
Beautiful little church in the woods at Nellim. We visited during a snowmobile safari from Nellim Wilderness Hotel, but we also walked there from the hotel separately beforehand after a fellow guest said it was a lovely spot to walk to. Perhaps we struck lucky when we visited as part of the snowmobile trip, or maybe it was part of the arrangement, but it was open that time, with a local lady looking after it, so we got to see the inside. See photos. See more..

    - Great place to stop and have excellent and reasonable priced lunch!

    Karhunpesakivi image
Absolutely great combination of sightseeing, souvenir shop and good restaurant. Parking area and services are just by the road (E75) half way between Ivalo and Inari. First you can take short stair trail (470 steps, 400m) to nice large stone cave covered empty by ice. At the bottom of stairs right by the parking place is located the gift shop and restaurant. Gift shop is large, nice and quite reasonable priced. The restaurant is excellent having very nice and helpful employees. Salomon soup, sautéed reindeer and grilled sandwich were our choices for our four person family. Portions were well sized, very tasty and priced as normal not with tourist extras :). I strongly recommend to visit at least for seeing the place and having cup of coffee! See more..
