   I had been planning to go to the north but due to Ethiopia’s ‘problems’ I ended up going to Bahir Dar/Gondar/Harar. The latter was the biggest surprise. Two days getting totally absorbed by the walled city. History, markets, museums, falcon feeding and of course the hyenas. Had a great guide in Abite, a guy who grew up in the city and who seems to know everyone (extraordinarily English too). Had such a good time with him solo that I then joined a group he was involved in taking to Awash National Park.
