  1. 5.0 Climax Cinema (3 reviews)
    - Valentine's Day
    Movie Theaters
    Climax Cinema image
Last time we went, it was for Valentine's Day. We watched "A Star is Born" with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Such a great story! The Climax cinema is well located, in the Hypnose Building, in the city center, right in front of the Cathedral. The staff are friendly and reliable. It is always clean and well decorated. There are two rooms with about 50 seats in each of them. About 60% of the movies are in French. The others are in English, with French subtitles. On average, there are two movies per day, except on Monday, which is their day off. See more..

    Congo Local Guides Katanga image
My friend Alex & I spent 3 amazing weeks exploring the Katanga region of the Congo from December 2020 to January 2021, accompanied the whole time by Christian from Congo Local Guides. Katanga was relatively safe, but a bit complicated to navigate due to covid and other restrictions, not to mention the language barrier (my knowledge of French is sadly very rudimentary). Christian was always there at every step of the way making sure things flowed as smoothly as possible and doing his best to keep us happy too. We couldn't have done it without him, he's awesome and extremely friendly (as was everybody we interacted with in the DRC)! See more..

  4. 5.0 Brasserie Brasimba (2 reviews)
    - Visite très instructive
    Factory Tours
    Brasserie Brasimba image
See more..

    - Splendide espace
    Golf Courses
    Golf De Lubumbashi image
See more..

    Spa Jeanne D'arc image
I have been there 3 times for manicure and pedicure. Tola is a nail tech and she speaks English fluently, which makes it great. They have a large range of nail colors and you can get acrylic tips or whatever you want. They also don't rush you out the door, in fact sometimes you wish they would hurry up. They offer water or tea, so you feel welcome there. See more..
  10. 4.5 Monument de l’identité Katangaise (2 reviews)
    - Iconic
    Monuments & Statues
    Monument de l’identité Katangaise image
This is located in the middle of a very busy roundabout. To me, it's very iconic for the city and as such, I had some of my wedding photos taken here. The only downside is that there is about 4 or 5 officers (or whoever) sitting around underneath and to take photos, they want money from you. The place is also dirty, with rubbish littered around. It also needs some maintenance. See more..
  11. 4.0 Lubumbashi Zoo (14 reviews)
    - Pretty good!
    Spent 1-2 hours Zoos
    Lubumbashi Zoo image
I read some other comments. They are funny. "Very very very bad", said a person. I think this person didn't notice that the garden was very well maintained: there are hundreds of different plants and trees. And I think that this person didn't notice that the animals were well fed and that they had enough space. Of course, I agree with that person, zoos are prisons, but Congolese people eat all the animals, including hippos. In the wilderness, these animals, in DRC, wouldn't stand a chance. In their misfortune, they are fortunate to be at this zoo. Anyway, even if you don't agree with my comment, you should go for a walk. That's a very pleasant walk to do! See more..

  13. 4.0 Fitness Zone (5 reviews)
    - Best gym in town
    Health Clubs
    Fitness Zone image
Fitness Zone is the best gym in town, as far as I can judge. You can try it for free. You don't need a Covid test to work out (like at the Malibu gym). There are forty different and brand new! machines. The staff is friendly, especially Beatrice at the front desk. It is in a rather nice and safe area, beside the Maison des crêpes. If you enjoy working out, here is a good address for you! See more..
  14. 4.0 Lac Kipopo (4 reviews)
    - Excellent place to watch the sunset
    Bodies of Water
    Lac Kipopo image
The waterfront at Lac Kipopo is a lovely calm place to sit and enjoy nature. There are a variety of restaurants in the La Plage complex next to the lake and also peddle boats priced at US$5 per boat for approx. 15 minutes on the water. It's an excellent place for birdwatching and enjoying the sunset. Only downside is that there is litter and pollution around the edges of the lake, but that's unfortunately par for the course in Lubumbashi. See more..
  15. 4.0 Marche De La Rwashi (2 reviews)
    - Art market

    Marche De La Rwashi image
The Rwashi Market is an art market located in the Rwashi commune, a popular part of Lubumbashi. From the city center, it takes about thirty minutes to reach it. Most taxi drivers know where it is. In this market, you'll find African souvenirs you may want to purchase at the end of your trip or as presents for your love ones, whenever you leave Lubumbashi. This market is mainly (if not exclusively) popular with tourists and expats. For that reason, the prices are high and you will need to bargain to get a decent price. See more..
  16. 4.0 J.A.C.K Primate Rehabilitation Centre (2 reviews)
    - Informative tour and supporting a good cause - it's a win-win!
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    J.A.C.K Primate Rehabilitation Centre image
We visited in a small group in the afternoon and were very pleased to be guided by Roxanne, one of the founders of JACK. The tour was very personal and informative, and we all enjoyed learning about the variety of monkeys and chimpanzees who have been rescued in Congo and surrounding countries and are now living in the sanctuary. There are a number of species that can only be found in Congo and are endangered, so it was a privilege to see them in the sanctuary. We felt that the US$10 per person entrance fee is well worth. The tour was given in English (because we were mostly English in our group) and lasted about 1 hour & 45 minutes and we loved getting to watch the adult chimps enjoy teatime and their afternoon feeding. 19. 3.0 Malibu Piscine & Fitness (3 reviews)
    - Always cold
    Monday: Beach & Pool Clubs
    Malibu Piscine & Fitness image
This swimming-pool is beautiful. The garden is well-maintained. It is not expensive to swim there either: 15 times for 80 dollars. However, it is always cold. You will need to be courageous to swim there. They don't add warm water and they don't heat the water either. It's a major turn off. When are they going to do something about that? See more..
  20. 3.0 Jardin Botanique (2 reviews)
    - Botanical Garden
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Gardens
    Jardin Botanique image
The Botanical Garden of Lubumbashi is in no way exceptional because it is new and because you won't see more than 50 different trees and plants. The zoo, which is just behind, is much more interesting from a botanical point of view: there are much more plants, and everything is much cleaner. At the Botanical Garden, you will spot hundreds of empty plastic bottles on the ground and in a little stream that flows through it. I don't know why they don't clean that up. Another disappointing thing about this Garden is the price of the trees. The first time I went I was okay with the prices they told me, not knowing what the prices were in this part of the world. However, I later found out that the real prices were much lower than what I had been asked to pay, much lower! To give you an idea, I was asked to pay 10 dollars for most trees, after bargaining for a few minutes. At another tree nursery (Regine's), I paid the same trees 2.5 dollars, without bargaining. My advice? Visit once only if you have time, avoid buying trees and plants here unless they are the only one in town to have the particular species you are looking for, don't expect too much.
