If you stay in Yaoundé you have to visit this two places. The Basilica was built 2006 on the site of the first church built by the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in Cameroon. Next to the basilica is an old church built in 1906 (during the german occupation) which is still in good condition. See more..

I lived most of my life in Yaounde and never had the opportunity to visit this monument until recently, and I am glad I did. The tour guide was great and knowledgeable about the history of the monument and the Country. I wish and hope it is thought in our schools as well. The only thing I deplore, is the cleanliness of the premises, there is room for improvement. It would also be good to have a book available for sale at the end of the visit, about the monument for those who would like to take a souvenir. See more..

Various forms of art are represented such as masks, royal objects, architectural elements, ritual and ceremonial sculptures, potteries, and much more. This tiny museum is a real hidden gem however it is not well labeled and without guidance or prior knowledge, it would be hard to appreciate at their real value all the pieces featured. We had a private tour to some of the more interesting items, and stories about their ethnographic heritage. The majority of the items are originated from the grasslands of Cameroon. I am a tour guide and It was a pleasure visiting these caves of the Six grottoes with 20tourists. We crawled through the "Cave of four doors"(Tombe a quatre portes)...delicate but with much fun! We also walked through the dark ,wet and humid cave with several bats then through the smallest cave which is assumed to have been the King's kitchen. This cave is not far from the Cave which is fondly called the Cave with three floors as in a storey! This is suggested to have been the king's abode because it is the most comfortable. The last but not the least is the Sacred Cave where the elders of the village and the chietainess perform traditional rites and hold a disciplinary council for those who offend the Land! We came back to the very first cave, the mother cave which serves as a church site for the villagers. Interesting to know there is a spring underneath this rock from which the whole village drink. Hiking Trails

Yaoundé , la ville aux sept collines , possède des lieux encore ( un peu) dans la nature . C'est notamment le cas des hautes collines du Nord de la Cité près du Golf , les Monts Fébé et Mbankolo . Le parcours du Mont Fébé , est relativement organisé et il est facile d'accès en voiture , soit par la route dite du Vatican , qui longe le Golf au Nord soit de l'autre côté Ouest , par la rue 6139 , qui part du carrefour Mbankolo .

Ce parcours de 3,2 km , dans le sens Ouest Est , passe par le Rocher de la Vierge puis par Monastery road , pour aboutir au dessus de l'hôtel du Mont Fébé . Il a un dénivelé de 117 m , ce qui le classe dans le parcours moyens , avec 4500 pas . Les lieux de randonnée dans la capitale , sont rares et il est agréable de s'évader un peu du tumulte permanent et de la pollution de la cité .

Le Club de Golf de Yaoundé, se trouve au pied du Mont Fébé dans une zone verdoyante . L'allée qui mène à la réception , est bordée de grands arbres, qui donnent du chic et du romantique à ce lieu . De chaque côté , des espaces verts invitent à la détente, avec un aménagement soigné des arbres et des massifs . Des enfants jouent dans ces lieux, ce qui me laisse supposer qu'ils sont accessibles . Au bout de la route, se trouve un parking avec une réception et un bar . Un panneau précise bien que les greens ne sont accessibles qu'aux golfeurs, ce qui est normal .

Pour les autres espaces, notamment les jardins , rien n'est semble t-il précisé . C'est alors qu'un sbire vient nous dire que tout le golf y compris les autres espaces nous sont interdits . Il y a comme ca des petites personnes , qui se prennent pour des gens importants en faisant leur loi . Et bien tant pis pour le golf de Yaoundé , peut être aurez-vous plus de chance que nous !!

Du coup, le bar seul lieu autorisé, n'a pas eu l'honneur de notre visite, car à quoi bon !!

En fait , le Golf Club loue le jardin côté aile droite et les locaux de réception , pour les mariages et les fêtes , 3.500.000 francs CFA ( 5.400 euros ) pour les non membres du club ( 2.500.000 pour les membres ) !!
