Touring Belize with Albert was a pleasure. He's an encyclopedia of all things Belize and is eager to help you learn. My wife and I enjoyed our safe and comfortable rides to and from our destinations, discussing various related topics - history, geography, demography, etc. He kept us on schedule, and expertly led some tours or turned the tour over to a specialist (e.g., Crooked Tree bird watching by boat). Booked a group of friends and strictly Belize took care of all our details. They got us great hotel on the beach and each we did an activity at least those of us that would leave the beach. My favorite was the horse back riding in the jungle and then learning garifuna drumming. My sister was in dreamland with the food that we ate. - The best way to see Belize's fauna reliably
Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Zoos
    The Belize Zoo image
The Belize Zoo is an institution that cares for over 150 native wildlife, and promotes Conservation, Education, Recreation, and Research. It is also the first nature destination in Belize that is accessible to visitors with physical disabilities. We are committed to the conservation of Belize's wildlife and its habitats through the establishment of a well maintained zoological facility and education center, both poised to bring about a greater environmental awareness to the people living in Belize, and to visitors from abroad. In 2014, the Zoo became the first nature destination in the country accessible to persons with physical disabilities. TBZ believes that by bringing the people closer to the animals, which are their natural heritage, they will feel proud of these special resources, and wish to protect them for future generations. All Zoo "residents" were once pets; donated to the Zoo; rescues found injured, abandoned or orphaned and brought in rehabilitation; or born at the Zoo. The Belize Zoo receives no financial support from the Government of Belize, and generates funding to care for its residents through admission fees, tours, donations, and adoption and membership programs. 16. 4.5 Altun Ha (876 reviews)
    - Awesome Altun Ha
Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins
    Altun Ha image
During my May 2022 back to back cruises, I visited 3 real Mayan sites and 1 fake site. Of the 3 real Mayan sites, I enjoyed this one the most. Unlike the other 2 real sites (San Gervasio and Chocchoban), you can climb the temples here. Climbing them gives you some great views of site though they're not an easy climb. There were wooden railings on the Sun Temple site but, you still had to be careful with your footing. Another plus was the shops close by. They weren't pushy to sell you stuff and Jungle Lab Cafe had a decent assortment of drinks which helped keep me hydrated. I really enjoyed this site and would recommend it to folks who want to see some real Mayan architecture. See more..
  17. 4.5 Altun Ha & The Olde Belize River (381 reviews)
    - Definitely Worth A Visit!
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
Altun Ha & The Olde Belize River image
The Mayan Ruins are easily accessible from the cruise port with a tour. The 45-minute drive to the site allows an opportunity to see some of the city and the countryside. The ruins themselves are fun to explore, to climb, and are very picturesque. Between the entrance to the ruins there are clean, accessible restrooms, and a nice little shopping area with a great atmosphere. There are a couple of open-air cafes, too, to get a beer and light meal. Overall, this is a fun experience. See more..

  22. 4.5 Billy Barquiedier National Park (24 reviews)
    - Challenging hike to the lookout with a waterfall finish!
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM National Parks • Parks
    Billy Barquiedier National Park image
Be sure to stop and do these 2 hikes. The first is a challenging “straight up” hike to a valley lookout. This hike is steep and challenging so you will earn your waterfall swim afterward. Then go to the waterfall for a quick chilly swim – so refreshing after the lookout hike. The rangers are super friendly and helpful. See more..
  23. 4.5 Mesoamerican Reef (Belize Barrier Reef) (15 reviews)
    - Belize Barrier Reef is the best snorkeling in Central America
    Reefs
Mesoamerican Reef (Belize Barrier Reef) image
I have never experienced such a beautiful underwater world. Snorkeling off Caye Caulker, Tobacco Caye, and from the edge of a sailboat, you can see dozens of aquatic species such as eagle rays, nautilus, incredible tropical fish, nurse sharks, and more. Taking the Ragamuffin sailboat tours out into the Reef was an amazing opportunity to have unforgettable experiences and make life long friends. The two times I visited Belize last spring, I lived in the magical underwater world countless hours each day, and I'd go back in a heart beat. Just DON'T STEP ON THE REEF so we can preserve it for other generations to experience too! See more..

We figured that this is the best way to announce that we arrived to Belize! Only few people when we arrived. They were very considerate and took quick selfies then left. We took literately two minutes, also. It seems that the letters are painted once in a while to different color/pattern. See more..
