Tactical tips
A must visit, really do this. No tour guide or help needed!!! Great place and big with lovely feeling to it. Hardly seen better, maybe Chiang Mai. Walk up to the top and buy your incense and stuff inside the temple. Anyone helping without informing you of who they are is a scammer. Say no thanks. Do not buy incense halfway up as they target you. Avoid accepting any help as there are groups targeting (albeit nicely) foreigners. Getting there: Metro 1 east to Baozhuang, taxi (DiDi if you have the app is best) 9km at 26 yuan/kwai. Getting back, bus 126 to station and metro. Try bus 55. The 126 is a grind so get to the metro and the 55 might be the one to take (my chinese app states this). There are no taxis when you leave but buses do come so be patient. DiDi showed no taxi service. I shall go back to do the 10 km forest walk, 20 kwai. Looks great but it was hot today (30 April 2018). I live in Ningbo so an easy trip. This temple was very impressive but the train ride as you approach the station showed the rural areas. Cool as well since the Chinese really use the landscape to grow crops etc. Very different to Ningbo urban areas.

Temple
It’s located pretty far away from the city. During winter vacations there are not a lot of tourists, so you can enjoy the scenery and atmosphere. There is the certain time when visitors can eat at the monk’s canteen: the breakfast from 6:30-7:30, the lunch time at 12 and the dinner from 16- 17. Monks are cool
