Relaxing night away from busy Wenzhou

I went here with my girlfriend at night and it was a relaxing spot that made for a good date night. The island wasn't very busy which was a bonus. Basically, there are 3 sections to the island....a park/pond area, an amusement park (each ride charges individually, around 20/25 rmb each), and a water park (150 rmb entrance fee). There are also some restaurants and a hotel at the end. An easy way to access the island is to take the ferry located on JiangBin Road, which is included in the 25 rmb entrance fee. We plan to go here again, maybe during the day next time.

A tranquil place with a touch of the Soviet era to it
We went to the island on the first day of the Spring Festival. In comparison to the city centre, the place virtually assaults you by its quietude and absence of crowds. We paid 30 yuan per person in total for a ferry ride, back and forth, and visiting the island itself. Was it worth it? Truth be told, not really. Yes, it is a nice bit of nature, there are a pseudo bonsai garden,a vanilla Chinese temple, a number of bridges with names like "A bridge of 9 turns" - quite a mouthful for what it is, a quaint building and towers standing sentinel... Also, there's an amusement park that looks like some remnants dating back to he heyday of Pripyat in Ukraine - a bit of post-apocalyptic atmosphere is definitely present. Some of the attractions worked, some didn't, same applied to the restaurants - though, it might've been due to the spring festival, but I can't really imagine the place bustling in summer and all the attractions and places whizzing into a mint condition. The only attraction I tried was a shooting gallery - a makeshifty place, where a made in-China gun fell apart right in my hands, which was somewhat amusing. There are lots of benches and lawns there to sit down and relax, read a book etc. - but also lots of stagnant water and unsightly parts. The other part of the island was blocked off (for no apparent reason, that's also partially why it left us infused with a feeling of being in the Eastern part of Berlin), we never managed to get there. All in all, it is a nice green place; just a short boat ride away from the city centre, but middle-of-the-road and not all it's cracked up to be.
