It's a peaceful oasis, so you gotta roll with it (sorry)
Those who are even trying to compare to West Lake in Hangzhou are not being at all fair on this place and though yes it does have nominal similarities, that's it. This is about 120 years old, the brainchild of a local Qing lord who wanted to build a playground out of an ancient bluestone quarry. If you ignore the age of the place and just enjoy its natural beauty and elegance then you can't help but love it. I think my photos speak better than my prose can allow, so I will just say that it may or may not be worth doing the cave boat ride as it's not dirt cheap by Chinese standards and only lasts about 15 minutes, but the price of entry into the attraction is more than worth it. Take time to explore every inch of the grounds which go all the way to the caves and all the way up the hill. A great way to spend the morning, especially on a sunny day like we had!

Eastern beauty of Shaoxing
As the title says, this is one of the highlight of Shaoxing. Easily accessible by bus or taxi from Shaoxing town, this is one of the place that tourist should visit while in Shaoxing. A bus ride cost only RMB1 (Bus no. 1) and takes about 10 minutes journey from town center while a taxi ride should not cost more than RMB20. There is an entrance fee to this attraction, a additional RMB85 for a 20-30 minutes boat ride which is so much better compared to the boat ride I took in town from Luxun to Shen Yuan. In term of size, East Lake cannot be comparable to the West Lake of Hangzhou but this small lake has it's very own uniqueness. The vertical rock that stand so high from the lake with a boat ride makes them look so magnificent. Take a stroll at the path in the middle of the lake, and the view from this path is really beautiful.

Peaceful & scenic
Great place to relax, have walks on the pathways by the water and garden areas. We took a boat ride on the lake. The boatman pushed his oar mostly by foot and sometimes by hand. I've never seen that before.
