Best way to descend after the hike
We hiked up the Platteklip Gorge trail to Table Mountain summit and found the trek to be steep and rocky. Going back down would be even more difficult without hiking boots and poles. The line to take the cableway was 1-2 hours. In that event, pay extra for "fast track" which lets you go on the next car after you buy the ticket.

School had a wonderful experience on the mountain
Being an April-baby I decided to take my school's outdoor club (Groentjiesklub) along when I made use of my free pass (during April if proof of birthdate can be given) up Table Mountain. One of the kids was also an April-baby and she also went up for free. When we got there the security gave our school combi parking within a 100 metres from the ticket office. We already felt they are looking after us being a school group as only tourist combi's etc were parked there. The service at the ticket office was extremely friendly and they even asked me why I didn't contacted them to come as part of the Class in the Sky initiative although this is only on weekdays. The lady said I could've saved a lot of money. Most of my kids have never been on Table Mountain although all of them are Capetonians. It was an awe inspiring experience even though we had a real heavy rains hower at one stage....luckily we took our school's rainjackets along. It was however all part of the wonderful experience. We visited the restaurant on the mountain and I was pleasantly surprised that we could afford quite a lot of on the menu to and that the prices wasn't focused on the tourists from overseas as I expected.
