Family trip to Cape Point Nature Reserve
It was the kids' first time at Cape Point and they absolutely, positively loved it there! We arrived bright and early as it was still "tourist" season and we knew it was going to get busy really quickly. When we got there, we got coffee and hot chocolates and took the funicular up to the lighthouse, but instead of taking the funicular back down, we opted to walk and the kids enjoyed this very much. Walking up is a lot of fun too and doable for the whole family young and old. Afterward, we took a drive to the Cape of Good Hope, also in the park, and encountered lots of Ostriches and baboons along the way. The kids obviously went crazy. The Cape of Good Hope is the most Southwestern point of Africa (unlike Aghullas which is the Southernmost point of Africa - many get confused by this). This section of the park is also very popular and you may have to wait in line for your turn to get a good picture at the signboards, but it's so worth it. There is just so much to do in the Cape Point Nature Reserve, and not enough time in a day, so if you can then plan ahead and book accommodation in the park to fully experience it. We took so many pictures and each one more beautiful than the other, it was hard to choose the best ones. Next time when we bring the kids, we'll brave the walk down to the beautiful Diaz beach - a 20-minute walk from the parking lot down a steep set of wooden stairs leading to the white sands, and Buffels Bay for a braai at the tidal pools. Hope you enjoy your visit to Cape Point, Travelingcubz

    Cape Point beauty
The reserve is beyond beautiful and well sign posted with a map provided at the entrance. It would be helpful however for first time or once off visitors to know distances between the various prominitories and also operating times of the funicular to be clearer so as to avoid disappointment. I suggest taking at least half a day to see it all. We sadly didn't get to the actual point as loadshedding / lack of electricity shut the funicular down and we did not have required time nor fitness levels to walk up to the point & back down. A spectacular outing nonetheless and I strongly recommend it be added to any visitor's itinerary
