A Must See!!

Once a small schoolhouse, this is now the home of Rocky Branch Mountain Music. Every Friday night, dozens of musicians and even more fans congregate to keep mountain music alive. Admission is always free. Donations are welcome and are used to keep this old schoolhouse in good repair. Rocky Branch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. During the Mountain Music events, our kitchen serves a simple menu of snacks and drinks. A fresh pot of coffee is always brewed. Nachos and popcorn are favorites of the kids! A daily special is often on offer for a very reasonable price. Favorites include beans and cornbread or chili. Friday Night Jams Each old schoolroom is dedicated to a type of music or a group of pickers and grinners. Friday night jam sessions are informal and are limited to acoustic instruments only. Visiting musicians are invited to bring their instrument and join in. Audience members are encouraged to wander from room to room and hear what each room has to offer.

Friendly Country Folk and Authentic Mountain Music
This is an authentic rural community center where people hang out to enjoy music and socailize. The music is great and so are the people. The desserts are tasty too. There is no set admission fee, but they have a donation jar.

    Great, Home-Grown, Bluegrass Music
On Friday evenings, the residents in the Walland/Townsend area get together at the Rocky Branch Community Center for an evening of home-grown music. Groups of musicians and singers gather in the various rooms for impromptu jam sessions. Visitors move from room to room to sample the different sounds. You will be amazed at the quality of the music. There must be something in the water down there. Admission is whatever donation you want to give. $3 pp is typical. They have a small cafeteria which serves reasonably-priced light dinner food. I didn't sample it, so I can't comment on its quantity & quality. But, it's definitely a great night out just for the music.
