What a special place!! Historical and inviting
I see that the more negative reviews are referring to day visits. My review is for overnight guests. We stayed at the inn for 2 nights. It was perfect. Perfect! The history of Shelbourne Farms is very interesting, and there are books in each room to learn all about it. The Webb family’s original portraits grace the main rooms. The wood details on the staircase and throughout the inn are breathtaking. If you want to have a cup of coffee in an 19th century library with beautiful views, while sitting on original furniture and looking around at hundreds of volumes of beautifully preserved books, well…this is the place for you!! We hiked for miles without leaving the property. We took along the fresh-baked bread and cheese made on the farm. There are benches along the trails for places to stop and enjoy a picnic. The dinners were unique and creative. Our host Ari was incredibly helpful, and the staff was very professional. We had breakfast in the dining room the first morning but enjoyed complimentary homemade muffins and coffee in the library the second morning. After hiking, we sat on Adirondack chairs in front of the lake and sumptuous gardens. I loved this place.
